Robert Lee Aday

I visited the Vietnam Wall this morning.
I looked up George's brother...I found
he was born March 30, 1950. His home
town was Bakersfield, CA. He died
Oct. 24, 1969. Siggie and Robert Aday
have the same birthday.

He was young and far from home when
he died. Soldiers today will die young and
far from home. Old men decide to go to war
and young men die. If the old men had to go
to war we would not have any.

Friends

This is my friend, Jonell, from our high school
reunion. Her nephew married Patsy's granddaughter.
So we are kin. Also, her aunt married my uncle.
So we are kin again. She has the sweetest heart
in the world.

Sigrid's Cake

Siggie is so excited about her
birthday. Here are her sister's
showing off the cake they made her.
Of course, the idea came from Aunt
Helen's blog. They used one of Ingie's
brat dolls for the center. Siggie is
anxious for her day to come. She says
she is big now.

Little Blanket

I made Siggie a little quilt for her
birthday. I did like Helen said and
bought the iron in cotton batting.
I think she will like it because it
is pink.

Almost Three!

Siggie will be 3, Sunday. Yesterday
she and her little friend Claire
went to 'Build and Bear' in Little
Rock Siggie made the Pink Poodle,
Pinkie. Her friend gave her the
necklace and crown. She tells me
things that makes me think of
Fleta, Helen, and myself growing
up. She says, "Gigi, the girls
won't let me in their room." I
remember me and Fleta wanting to
get away from Helen.

I took this of the Cherry blooms on my

Red Buds were purple. Soon the trees
will be full of blooms.

I graduated from high school...this
weekend we are having a get together.
If Patsy, went to her reunion...it
would be 50 years. Larry's mom went
to Falling Water School long before
this...and had perfect attendance.

Blue Bucket

In the spring of 2006, I was able to walk way
down Galla Lake's shore and I found this old
house place. It is too wet to go around the Lake
this year...but I would like to see the old homeplace
again.

Time got me down

I had to get up an hour earlier all week
and I was not in bed by the time I should
be...by the time Friday came around...I was
pooped. But my day is over and next week I
will be used to the time.

Eighteen eggs yesterday

New Chickens..

Old Chickens

I got 18 eggs yesterday. Patsy is ordering
new chickens for the spring. I am excited to
try a few of them. They are full sized and
will lay brown eggs. I hope she can keep the
neighbor's cat away from them. These chickens
should lay an egg each day. Bantams set more
than the chickens bred to be eggers, but a
Bantam is very beautiful and esay to keep. I
am anxious to see how the new breed will do.

Precious little One!

Pop got a late valentine last week. Astrid
made it at school and it was hanging in
the hall. The last line says something like..
I love you so much because I know you would
do anything thing in the world for me...
and it is true.

Quilt

I wanted to make Clayton's quilt like
Momma always did. SHe would put something
old inside. I am not pleased with this
it reminds me of a table cloth. I should
not have picked the floweredy material.
I put an piece of old blue blanket as the
lining. Maybe when it is washed and faded
it will look better. I am tacking it.

Back to the Grind!

It snowed a foot but most of it has
melted and I must go back to work today.
I had a good day at home and will not
hate missing the school day until I
have to make it up in May....

Cocoon

Surprise vacation!!! I go to bed with the
chickens and get up way before the sun. I
got a surprise when the sun came up this
morn! No school today...snow was over my
boots when I went to get the paper!

My Own Place

Erin is dreaming of moving to a red dirt
road like Fleta. She wants to be able to
go outside and not see people and other
houses. She really had never lived in town
until she moved to Harrison, Arkansas.
Neither of my kids like living where there
are others around. We like our space. I
value having space enough around me to keep
others at a distance. This is the land
Erin is dreaming of. The piece on the little
knoll...she says 5 to 10 acres will be enough
for Clayton to run and play and grow!

Clayton

March, April, May, June and then Clayton will
be here. He will know Erin and Greg's voice
when he is born. He will not know mine as he
does not get to hear me much. Maybe I should
record some songs and have Erin play them in
the car when she is driving. I can sing 'the
old gray mare ain't what she used to be' like
the video I have of Fleta and Erin singing it
when Erin was a little girl.

Remembering

I remember our old barn. Going down and sitting alone inside. I remember the smell of the sweet cow feed and the musty-dung dirt floor. I wish I had a old barn of
my own. I think this photo is Fleta's...I am sure she will tell me if it is. Well, it could be Erin's...she will tell me too. They are just alike.
