No Bushes in Minnesota

WASHINGTON - President Bush is unlikely to attend the Republican convention in Minnesota as scheduled Monday because of concerns about Hurricane Gustav, the White House said Sunday.

I wonder if they are not paying him to stay away. If I
were McCain, that would be my stategy. Or is he back on
the sauce and not doing well in public?

Chickens on Saw Dust

My son in law, Greg, makes furniture and saves the
saw dust. I like to put it in my chicken pen.
It makes a good dry place. My house stays
pretty dry. Most of these chickens came from
Patsy...I only have about 8 that were from
my old flock.

Clayton

Fleta gave Erin this play pen and Erin
is letting me keep it at my house as
Laura gave her one. It is nice to have
a place for him to lay. His thrush is
better.

Busy Week

We are having a busy week. Astrid and Ingrid are
in school. Eric and I are back at Middle School. Laura
is working as Director of a local non profit school--new
job for her and more pay. I think she has about a dozen
classrooms and all the workers to manage. Siggie's school
has not opened. She goes to a Church daycare affiliated with
the Baptist Church. It is a really nice set up. She and Pop
have been buddies this week. Here is what they did
yesterday. She loved the park. Today they took a puppy
to the Vet because of a cherry eye. She and the Dr.
became fast friends. Pop is the best Grandfather in
the world.

Blog Button

Sister 2 thinks Sisters one and three are
a little nutty when we report stuff about
our computers. But I know it is real stuff
the Publish button does not want to work.
Patsy's doesn't either...she mentioned it. I
noticed after I had trouble Erin posted
just fine. She is a reincarnation of Sister
2, so that explains why she had no trouble.

Now, I have figured out if I hold my mouth
just right and put the cursor on the corner
of the Publish button it will work. So there
Fleta...I can figure out how to fix things on
the computer just like you can.

If your Publish button does not work
1. put the cursor on the tippy corner of it
2. hold your mouth just right
3. say 2 curse words under your breath
ta da....it works!

Fleta try this.

Out to Branson

Greg and Erin are going to the big city of
Branson tonight and Clayton is staying with
his other Grandmother. I know they will have
so much fun (Galisa and Clayton)!!!

James K Polk Blevins and wife

Another old photo...when I load them on here
they are saved if something happens to my computer.
Polk Blevins was the son of James Blevins and Elizabeth
Blevins. He married Catherine Mahala Walker, daughter
of William Turner Walker and Miatta Potts. They lived
near Omaha until they were pretty old and then they
moved to near Reeds Springs, Mo. Elizabeth Blevins
mother was Rhoda Standridge. Rhoda's brother is Larry's
Great Great Grandfather.

Old Blevins Picture

Some one sent me an old Blevins picture.
It is the James K Polk Blevins family. He was
the son of James Blevins and Elizabeth Blevins...
yes, they were both Blevins. They lived near
Gaddy corner and James was killed at the
beginning of the Civil War. Elizabeth married
a Keeland but they did not have any kids.
Polk married Catherine Mahala Walker. She was
the daughter of William Turner Walker and Miatta
Potts. I love the picture. It is probably just
after 1900. Polk and Mahala lived near Reed
Springs, Mo. Elizabeth Blevins Keeland died at
their house in 1896. Blessed memories.

Walking

I have walked or rode my bike almost
daily all summer. June and July went well
but when August came I have dropped to
only going every other day. I love crepe
myrtles...but wish I had a Rose of Sharon--
hint, hint, Patsy.

This morning it was in the upper
60s when I went about 6:30 A.M. I took
my camera and snapped some blog troll
food. I have learned new stuff this summer.
I think this pond needs a carp.

Patsy, is this some moon flower. I think it is..
I learned about the night flowers on your blog.

This little squirrel was not very afraid of me.
He knows that no guns are allowed in the nature
sanctuary.

Feeding the Troll

I am feeding the Blog Troll
to see if it will wake up.
I looked and Erin's works, but
mine is dead again. So here's
a bone Troll...WAKE UP!

Blog Roll is Dead

My blog roll is dead...it is stuck
and not updating. I went to Patsy's
and hers works. Half the time mine
is dead. I think it is because I never
post anything...so I am posting this
to see if the blog roll rises again.

Styling

I went shopping with my three girls
yesterday. They got new clothes for
school. I uploaded a photo of several
of the new duds at this link for Erin.
Probably the Sisters will not care about
looking at the pretty things but I thought
Erin and Clayton would enjoy seeing the girls
as they were putting on a style show for the
Pop and he clapped for each walk they made
into his heart.

I remember picking material out of the
Bella Hess catalog when I was Astrid's
age. Then Momma cut out our outfits without
a pattern. I know some years she handstitched
the material as I remember her sitting in the
yard in the cooler evening air, working on the
clothes. Sometimes we had a skirt and blouse
and sometimes a dress. I remember she wanted
us to have 3 outfits but I guess we did not
always have that many. How much love she put
in each stitch outweighs the cost of my little
girls new things. She spents weeks making the
dresses we wore.

Oh, Dream...

I dream of a boy on Galla Creek
To share his time with me
And to play with three little girls
To laugh and run with glee.

When Clayton comes next summer
To spend his time with Pop
Gigi will cook him breakfast
And then they'll play and romp.

His cousins from down the road
Will also spend the night
There will be no bedtime limit
They can play until daylight.

When Clayton lives out his summer's
On Galla Creek with us
We promise not to spoil him
And never make him fuss.

When he is an old man
And gray the color of his head
He will think of all those times
He slept in Poppa's bed.

Under Cover Guests

My 3 girls spent the night last
night. I go to bed first--at 10 oclock.
They were all still up with Pop. This
is what was under the covers on my
side of the bed. Who did it? Which
little girl is that onery? I think
Siggie with Pop's suggestion. I did
not yell, but it did scar me a little
as the lights were out and it did
not feel like the sheets!

After Dinner Nap

Best thing to do afer dinner is...
take a nap.
