Surprise Lily

This is called a Surprise Lily. Laura has them in her yard. They look like an Easter Lily in the Spring, but then die down and one day they just shoot up a stem and flower where nothing was before.

Posting for Helen

Daddy would be 94 today. He was as good a Daddy as you could have. This picture was 1971..in front of a little mobile home where I called home. This was his first visit to my house after I married.

Across the Road

She was standing across the road from my house this morning eating grass on the side of Galla Creek Lane.

Galla Meadow

I pray the Lord will give me a few years in the Meadow. A Farmer's daughter is not happy in the woods and rocks. The Meadow is my home.

Erin Stayed All Day

Erin came and stayed all day with us. Laura, Eric and Erin took the kids to Mt. Nebo swimming and then they played in the park. It was nice to see Clayton walking. He is really a tall, handsome boy.

Helen G. Brown

I read this book about Helen Gurley. I am always fascinated--was her father the Ira that Grandpa Powell was so jealous of. Did Grandma must have a big crush on him. He went on to marry a Cisco from Osage. I always want to read about her because of her birth place--Green Forest AR. All through this book, I just found myself feeling so sorry for her. I would say she had a very misguided life. It all sounded like sadness to me. Of course, my favorite part is always the history of her family. Ira Gurley could have married Grandma. I am so glad he did not. Grandpa Powell was a much better catch.

Now, Grandma and Grandpa are not in this book. I am referring to the letters to each other before they married. Grandpa asked about her seeing Ira.

Clayton takes after Aunt Fleta!

He is checking the grocery ads and then he is going to carry the paper to Wal-mart and price check the items on sale. He is really thrifty like Fleta.

Scissortails

We went over to Galla Meadow and sit and let our three little puppies run and play. The Martins and Scissortails were teaching their babies to fly. The Martins will be gone soon. It was fun watching them swish around in the blue sky.

Astrid--The Photographer

I gave Astrid an old camera I had here. I got a new one and just had it laying around. It is 5 years old or so. She takes pictures with it and here are some of her vacation pictures. I gave Ingrid a camera too, but hers was even older so it may have bit the dust.

Anyway, I think she did a good job on her pictures. I just picked a few so Erin could see her work. Laura snapped some of them. Erin, bet they are better than Laura's pictures...don't you?
The one that is side ways is not like that, but I loaded it twice and blogger wants it side ways so just use your imagination on it. The location is Captivia, Florida!
