Sarah Elizabeth Renfroe 1874-1903

This was taken in 1903 in Ok. Sarah was born at Snowball, AR. She married Wm. Pinkney Phillips in 1890. This is one of the pictures Bonnie gave me. She said--"you know it is supposed to be taboo to take a photo of a dead person." I guess Mr. Phillips wanted to remember her. I see total saddness and despair on his face and also on the faces of the children.

Light Pole Perch

Siggie and I had fun watching the birds today. She stayed last night and is wonderful company. She had my binoculars around her neck while outside and saw some amazing things.

Blue Bird

On Presidents' Day, Larry and I went to Pea Ridge, AR to visit Ethel's first cousin, Bonnie Walker. Bonnie has been in a wheel chair since 1950. She is 77. I loved getting to see her again and cried when we drove away. She told me to take all her old, old Renfroe pictures as we were the only ones that would take care of them. She was 15 when she went out with friends near Bentonville, Ar. There was a wreck and Bonnie's back was injured.

Flock

I spied all these birds in the Meadow earlier this week.
I think they were traveling robins, but it was hard to see
for sure.

I get an extra day off this week as Monday is a holiday.

Snow Day Slow Day

No school today. I am just sitting around staying warm. It is still falling.
I have been watching this bird this week. I think it is a Woodpecker, but maybe not. What is it Patsy?

I filled my bird feeders Saturday. All the birds cheered. I even let the crows eat...they are hungry too.

Coming in April--I can't wait!

1940

U.S. Federal Census
Coming April 2, 2012

On April 2, 1940, there were 132,164,569 people living in America. And today, 87 percent of Americans can find a direct family link to one – or more – of them.

When the 1940 U.S. Federal Census is opened to the public this April, you’ll have a window into every one of those 132 million lives. Their names, where they lived, who shared their house, even where they were five years earlier.
And that’s just for starters.

News Today

Patsy is always commenting on what she reads in the news. I noticed in today's Gazette that pythons have taken over the Everglades. They've almost eliminated all the coon, possum and other small animals there. People have 'set them free' in the past and now they are plentiful there and moving north. Oh, dear!

Walmart is giving extra duties to the greeters and moving them into the store. The job now will require lifting. Many of the elderly are wondering if they are 'up to' the new greeter job.
