New Year 2026

Happy New year to all and blessings in 2026!

This is an old Puritan prayer from their beginnings in the 1600’s. I like the message but I surely don’t like to be jolted into reality.  I prefer comfort and smooth sailing. Now, even the smallest occurrence seems to rattle me.

Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.

Sigrid celebrated the New Year in our town. Several of her friends did too. This is her first New Year with her own Logan.

The black rabbit coat Sig is wearing, I purchased over 30 years ago. It blessed my heart to see her wearing it. Somethings don’t go out of style.
Ingrid was featured on the website of her new employer. It explains what she does. I’m really proud of her but miss her being near.
