Happy Day

Went to the home place today to celebrate Sister Helen’s UNbirthday.  She said she has reached a plateau and plans to stay 68 forever.  We had a fabulous day. Sister Fleta fixed a great lunch.  Helen’s angel cake for an angel was reminiscent of Grandma Powell’s cakes.  It was delicious and tall, tall!  After lunch Fleta drove us to Berryville to visit our sister-in-LOVE, Barbara Powell.  She married our brother in 1959 so she’s been our sister a long, long time.   We came back by Frankie Powell’s but I think he saw us get out of the car as we couldn’t raise him.  Visiting my sisters is a uplift to my dull existence and seeing Barbara was icing on top.

Above the Door

Finished another baby blanket and hat.  This couple is not finding out the gender early so I used light gray again.
Clayton let Erin take a first day picture.  Looks like he’s taller than the door.  Ada didn’t want another photo.  Greta captured her for this one.  Clayton is in 10th, Greta 7th and Ada pre-school.
Clayton is in preschool in this photo..

Growing Up On A Farm

Just finished this true book about 5 farm families.  What they all had in common was a struggle to survive.  All my Dad ever wanted to be was a farmer.  We strived  just to have enough to eat until 1962 when he took a job at Eldridge Feed Mill in Green Forest!  Even before ‘62, he helped build Table Rock and Beaver Dams and worked at Turney Wood Products in Harrison to supplement the farm income which was usually in the red!  He saw the end of an era.  Today a farmer has to go “big” to live just on the farm income!  I enjoyed this book and if you were raised on a farm I think you would too!  God bless the farmers💚

Ingrid started her “hands on” learning today.  She’s at Baptist Hospital in our state capitol.  I hope she has a good first day.  One day she hopes to save lives working for a cancer treatment center!

Day One Over

Ada had a good first day of preschool.  She didn’t want to leave.  She’s changed a lot since last year.  She has a black eye.  It happened during a time Erin wasn’t at home.  Erin asked her what happened and she said Greta did it, but Greta said she was playing with the mop and hit herself.

Greta had a good day too.  Clayton’s first day was today!  Hope he was enthusiastic.

School Days Once more

School starts today!  I wondered if I’d get a first day cinnamon roll.  I did! Laura has been making cinnamon rolls for the girls’  first day all their lives! She and Eric were the only ones at their house who started school today!  Greta and Ada  will be experiencing their first days too!  Both girls were so excited about these new beginnings!  Praying today that every teacher will have extra kindness and patience in their school supplies!  Little spirits can be crushed with just a word!  Hope your day is bright 💙

Saving Money Ordering on Internet

Laura ordered her glasses off the internet!  She loves them, less money and great quality!  I tried it, but mine aren’t working too well💕

Sigrid Helping a Friend

Sigrid helped her friend move into her Dorm room today.  This little girl has a scholarship to play softball at a college in Conway.  I taught her father and her grandmother.  Doesn’t seem possible.  Sigrid’s friends are heading out in different directions.  I hope she makes a new crew of friends who are nice at ATU.  ðŸ¤ž

Ingrid lives in the same town so Sig stopped on the way home to see her sister.  Looks like Ing is doctoring facial blemishes. 🩹🩹

Mowing Again

Mowing finished once more.  Took a long time as grass was tall!  Chickens are eating the grass cuttings! I’m pooped!

DownTown

Sigrid lives down town!  Her apartment is where the lights are on.  Soon she’ll be going to classes and working.

I’m going to mow, but I trying to let the grass get dry.  It’s rained a lot and the grass is tall.

Beautiful Day

Pillows in the sky and on the water!

This morning Phinnie walked with me!  I didn’t take him in the drizzle we’ve been having.  Today the ground was wet but no rain fell!  I love the August rains as they promise spring wildflowers.

There were pillows in the sky over Pop’s pond reflecting pillows in the water!  I spied the Virginia Dayflower and I will likely be the only human to view these little blue gems—one day and gone!  The Covid looking Maypops are in bloom and if I could have grabbed one of the Maypop balls, I would have stomped it to hear the “pop”.  Partridge Peas were blooming golden along my path.  Hope you find blessings in your day.  All you have to do is seek them! 💙
