Oh, Christmas Tree

Top tree is Astrid’s and below is Laura’s. Ingrid painted one too, but I haven’t seen it.

Laura, Ingrid and Astrid plus friends created Christmas trees.  Laura gifted hers to her school Pal, Amy. πŸ’š

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday, Ingrid.  Don’t let that bow on her head fool you. She’s not a bow head; she’s a brain.

Sick

I saw this bowl being used to hold sewing stuff.   Don’t think that was its purpose originally.

I have phlebitis tin a vein in my thigh. I wore knee brace to exercise class and caused it. I hope it gets better on its own.  It’s a surface vein. I have not felt good at all.  Movement is good so I’ll do my normal stuff today.

A Talk with Bill

Laura and I went last night and listened to Bill talk about his new book.  He said always remember that humans are not the cartoon cutouts we see on the screen. They are real. Don’t lose hope. Without hope we have nothing.  He said to always forgive.  Don’t be afraid to befriend those who don’t hold the beliefs that you do.  Come together.  He said Israel was in that land 100s of years before there was a Muslin religion.  He said killing people will not solve any problem.  He spoke an hour in his muted voice.  It was so interesting.

Well, Well

Sigrid shared this with me!  One of my little blankets is being used!  The little beanie is almost too small! This sure warmed my heartπŸ€πŸ’™πŸ€

Bob, a FB friend, said to put Vaseline on my feeder pole and the squirrels would slide down when they try to climb it. He may be laughing but I took him at his word and smeared two jars of Vaseline on my bird feeder pole.

My walk delivered a great reward yesterday. Laura mailed my lunch— taco salad was hanging on my mailbox!

Motives

Have you ever had someone befriend with an ulterior motive.  I had a friend all through elementary school, but when we went to Jr. High she took up with a faster crowd.  That group's main goal was to meet up with boys.  One day she buddied up to me again.  I was so happy.  She came to stay the night with me.  Wouldn't you know the real lure to me was the boy that lived down the road.  We walked there and she met up with him.  We were not friends again! I finally learned a lesson I thought.

But I am still vulnerable. Back in the summer the squirrels pretended to be my friends. They did not bother the bird seed.  There was plenty to eat on the oaks and maples and other vegetation.  I enjoyed watching them scurrying around. I was just money in the bank for winter. My grandson Justin put up a little chair for them on the oak tree.  Bam, one day the squirrels  turned on me.  The stuff dangling from my feeder pole did not keep the devils away. If they fell, it was try, try again. When I went out to shoo them away, they climbed and big oak and sat and laughed at me.

Well, the trap is set and one has moved to the oak covered graveyard 3 miles away over Galla Lake.

Sick

Sigrid has been sick.  Going to classes puts you where the germs are.  Even if one is sick, some things must be attended to. Chemistry is one of those things.  She had a big test but all the mucus in her chest was distracting.  I hope she is better today!  She did go to the campus doctor.

Stockings

Laura made new Christmas stockings for Justin and Ingrid to hang. As far back as 1823, in the poem “A Visit From Saint Nicholas,” stockings were hung near the fireplace, awaiting a visit from Santa Claus.

Stockings have changed over the years.

December 2

Fleta’s Hannah turns 18 today. Wishing her all the happiness in the world on your special day. Hannah is a Hebrew name meaning favor or grace.  Hannah is also a paladrome.  It’s the same spelled front or back.  Special name for a special lady.
Logan and Astrid have the stable framed.  Next will be the roof. It’ll have a tin roof.

December

Laura’s been home all week.  She made rolls for our Thanksgiving meal.  There were a few left over, but when Siggie searched for one her Dad had eaten them.  She moaned and Laura made a pan for her yesterday.  I got two.  Yesterday, I had one with honey and will have the other today.

Astrid and Logan’s stable is moving along.  I’m excited for them.  The old one stays wet in the winter and this one is on a concrete slab.

December is here.  Merle said— if we make it through December everything will be alright!

New Stable

The Meadow will soon have a new stable.  Logan started yesterday and it reminded me of the old time cabin raising.  Friends came and volunteered their help.  This morning Logi Bear is out there again.  Two good friends are volunteering again. The horses and donkeys will soon have a new abode. They are planning to tear down the old shed and relocate it to the other pasture. Donkeys are desert animals they want to be inside when it rains. I have lived here since 1982…. over half my life..
