We often go south to pick up a Feist puppy. If someone breeds a dog to Larry's males, he will accept $350.00 or two puppies. Most folks go for the 2 pups which he sells for $700.00. Saturday, we went to Dumas, AR and picked up a pup. Larry sold one before we ever picked it up...so there was only one.
When going to Dumas, you pass the 'big house' and I always pay attention as we go by. The 'big house' has a big farm. The inmates can choose to work or not. We have passed and seen guards riding horseback with a rifle 'in hand' watching a crew do some type of labor. In the above picture they are burning the fields before replanting. There are signs along the interstate near the 'big house' letting you know to NOT pick up any hitchhikers.
The area around Dumas grows milo, corn, soy beans. It is low land lying near the AR and the MS rivers. The dirt is black...as are most of the inmates we have spied working.

How do you know they get to choose to work or not?
I have heard that...did not stop and ask. But they get time off if they work, but they can't be made to work is what I have been told. Well, in the fields that is.
