Blue Moon or Blue Me

I went out last night to see the Blue Super Moon.  Next one will occur in 2037.  I may not be around.  The Blue Moon laughed at me for all I could see was a cloudy blur!  This morning at 4:30 I looked again and wasn’t disappointed💙🌕💙

Family Contest

Number 1
Number 2
Number 3

Family, Erin is sponsoring a contest. Astrid, Laura, and Siggie painted plates at a local venue.  If you a guess correctly which painted each Erin will give you a prize.  I’m not sure what she’s awarding you but you all know it’ll be nice and generous!   Answer in comments as 1; 2; 3!

Blue Moon

Amy-Patsy sent me a raisin muffin by Laura.  They share lunch each day.  It was just right.  I think Amy is called a media specialist, but I call her a librarian♥️
The moon last night was big.  It’s not full until tonight.  It’s a blue moon—second full moon in a month and a super moon as it’s nearer to us because of the elliptical orbit. Go look and see tonight.🌕

Quilts

Helen made these baby quilts for my great grandchildren.  They don’t exist, but Helen said she won’t exist when they do.
My Maple has more red leaves.
Kim See posted this—a golden warbler—I’ve never seen one💛

New Skills

I crochet, do word puzzles, read, walk daily.  I’m trying to stave off dementia.  Erin is quick to tell me  that I need to learn new skills.  She said learn to speak French or Spanish.  Really!  Oh, dear!! Well, I’m learning roofing.  I had left over shingles.  My hen nest cover leaked.  I roofed it.  Now, Erin says, Mom, painting is your next new skill.  I have some of this red paint somewhere!

National Pet Day

Yesterday was National Pet Day.  Astrid has three Corgi’s.  Laura and Eric have two and I have Phinnie.  Astrid often will let one go shopping with her.  She tries to take turns.

I have been using my roll magnet and getting all the tacks and nails out of my yard.  I’m finding a lot of them. This makes me glad I thought to run the magnet.

A Little Lighter

Ingrid lightened her hair today.  Well, McKinsey did.  She had to change clothes Friday.  She spilled radio active stuff on her clothes.  They took hers and she put on hospital green.  She won 3 scholarships this week.  She wrote an essay about her Pop and how nuclear medicine helped him live longer.  The money will total about 3200$.  She can’t work for extra money so this was a boost for her.  She’s leaves her apartment at 5 each morning to get to Baptist Hospital.

My roof is finished.  It’s pewter gray.  Astrid said black would be best but a black roof makes your house hotter.  I may change the shutters to charcoal.

Painted Sky

I am grateful for the painted sky!  Was it created just for me?

Astrid and Laura

Astrid and Logan took Laura to a Chris Stapleton concert last night.  It was Laura’s birthday gift.  I recall Chris singing the National anthem  at the Super Bowl.  Laura said she enjoyed the concert.

Getting my new roof today.  They started early but I was already up and at ‘em.

Hot Again

June and Rose Ann came to the fence this morning.  Rosie was red from her dust bathing.  The Poke weed God planted in the Maple tree is going to seed.  Virginia Beauty blooms  are almost finished but Blazing Star shoots are plentiful.  I won’t be mowing this weekend as the grass is brown.

Ada is still enjoying school.  At first, she threw a hissy fit when nap time came.  Greta did not make her nap during the summer as the family enjoyed it when she went to bed early.  She slept later too.  Ada has a little IPad.  All weekend it was placed high on a shelf.  She could see it but because of her behavior she did not get to use it at all.  Monday, she was ready to behave better at school and took her rest at nap time.

Early Stroll

Geese heading to a new home!  Each morning I see more leaving.
Wrangler is pretty fat and sleek.  They said, “ you’re out early.”  It was 6:30.
Erin went to Scotland Monday, Arkansas that is.  Brother Clayton coached and taught math here in 1969, 1970, and 1971.

Sigrid going to classes at ATU!

Coasters

Made fruit coasters for Siggie.  This is an apple, orange, watermelon and strawberry.  Looks pretty primitive🤭
Made another set of chicken coasters.  Fleta wants 12 to put in her Tyson gift bags for Christmas.  So I’ll be making more.
Laura brought me homemade lemon bars.  Heavenly.  Really hot today.  I walked early and have stayed indoors.  It’s 101 now.

Sweating Early

Phinnie and I set out walking at 6:30 thinking we’d beat the heat, but by finish I was dripping sweat.  He waded the pond to cool off.  We saw so many pretty flowers it was reward enough for me💗. The pink Willowherb was by Galla Lake and the Hawkweed and Bugloss along the edge of the pond.  Sumac is turning red for fall. Black-eyed Susans dot the pasture fence!

Mowing Done AGAIN

Got mowing done again.  It was really hot work, over 100 degrees!  Bees love the bird bath, poor things.  Limbs keep falling out of my Ray Boyd Walnut trees.  They split during the storm and are slowly falling.  Shingles coming Tuesday!  Getting a new roof soon!

I thought I’d cut the low limbs off this limb that fell today.  It’s still attached a little.  Well it fell farther and hit me in the head and shoulder.  Bent my glasses all out of shape.  Having bad luck today.  So hot when I mowed for hours, I felt literally sick.
Ingrid needed a lab coat.  Doesn’t she look professional.
Sigrid starts College Wednesday. Greek week has started.  Hope she gets in the group she wants.

What about 2023?

I read this book and enjoyed it so much.  It about things that happened that year.  Big things occurred—Jesse and the Youngers went north and robbed a bank, Little Big Horn, plus the beginning of organized baseball in America.  If you like history you’ll love it.

Someone may write a book in 100 years about the year I graduated from high school—1968.  The World Series that year featured the St. Louis Cardinals and Bob Gibson.  They lost!  The Tet Offensive was set in motion.  Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy were assassinated.  Tricky Dick was elected President of the United States.   My son in law Eric was born.  I left Green Forest, Arkansas and never lived there again.

Pretty in Pink

Got to see Ada yesterday on my way home from Sisterville!  I gifted her the Barbie glasses I found while walking, new pink Keens for school, plus some rain boots!  She loved her new glasses and rain boots!  She is progressing in school and still the happy one who brightens every day of everyone she meets💗🤍💗
