Obituary for Freida Mae Powell FREIDA MAE POWELL, a resident of Green Forest, AR, was born October 18, 1929 in Carroll County, AR to Jimmy and Venice (Farmer) Youngblood. She departed this life to meet her heavenly Father Saturday, September 18, 2010 in her home at the age of 80 years.
Freida and Joe lived most of their married life on the family farm in Green Forest. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Green Forest. She was very devoted to the Church and served in many capacities. She taught the three year old Sunday School Class at the church for over forty years. Freida had a special gift of always putting others first. She would go out of her way to make everyone feel important. She brought laughter and joy to everyone who knew her. Although our hearts are broken to let her go, we know that heaven is even more spectacular since she arrived. Freida enjoyed doing many things, cooking, and flower arranging, but most of all, she enjoyed playing with her two grandchildren Nick and Anna.
On September 16, 1953 she was united in marriage with Joe "Buster" Powell who survives her of the home. She is also survived by two daughters, Sandra Powell of Green Forest, AR; Cindy & husband Gregg Luebbering of Green Forest, AR; two grandchildren, Nick and Anna Kate Luebbering of Green Forest, AR; one brother, Gary & wife Sue Youngblood of Berryville, AR; two sisters, Frances Ary of Berryville, AR; Joyce & husband Ed Stanphill of Springfield, MO; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Hersal, Larry, and Earl Dane Youngblood, and an infant daughter Cherri Kaye.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Green Forest. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 24, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Green Forest with Reverend Marvin Emmons, Brother Bill Griffith, & Brother Billy McCall officiating. Interment will be at the Pickens Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
