My Squirrel Dog

Phinnie is a squirrel slayer.

Cora, the Feist squirrel dog, is 11 and she has retired.  It came about slowly, but Cora will lie on the back porch and let the squirrels empty my feeders.  Well, there is a new dog around and a new squirrel slayer.  If I see a squirrel at the feeder I call phinnie to the door and open with encouraging words to chase the critter.  He bounds after the squirrel until it goes up a tree. They return after a few hours.  Phinnie already hated Peter cotton tail and Bambi so it was pretty easy to get him to chase Alvin.  Today Phinnie was out the door fast and Alvin moved to slowly.  One bird feed robber gone.  He was really proud of himself.  He left his conquest and Cora quickly claimed it for supper.  This is Larry’s only Corgi squirrel dog!
