Surprise

My Surprise Lilies will be gone in a few days.  I got another nice surprise last night though—it rained!  It was cool this morning for my walk.  This is my last week to walk at the Lake.  Laura returns to school (work) August 7.  The Temperature is climbing again, but today we haven’t hit 100 yet.

The Painted Bunting is coming almost everyday.  Just seeing him makes me smile.  The female is greenish yellow and beautiful too.  No photo of her yet.

School Starting Soon

I used to buy school clothes for my grandkids.  Astrid is in the work world.  Ingrid wears scrubs.  Ada has a bunch of clothes that still fit.  Clayton is too hard to buy for—6’5” and 14 plus shoes.  I bought some Hoka tennis shoes for Greta and Sigrid.

SisterHelen is coming to see me this week.  Something to look forward to.  Laura and I are going to Sam’s Wednesday.  I have a list.

Barbs

Went to see Barbie with my besties.  The movie was very good.  I agreed with the concept.   I didn’t even notice the map Ted Cruz is whining about..

Snakeweed

This is a species of the vervain family. It has many common names including blue porterweed, blue snake weed, bastard vervain, Brazilian tea, Jamaica vervain, light-blue snakeweed, and worryvine.  It usually is found along country roadsides.  I spotted this when I walked the pier at Lake Dardanelle.  The leaves are consumed in bush tea as a “cooling” tonic and blood cleanser, to treat “asthma” and “ulcerated stomachs”.

Look where Erin had to go to see a client— right down Betty Jean street.  Betty Jean is near Honeysuckle so there’s a pleasant aroma there.

Counting

Sigrid received her license to be a pharmacy tech.  It is not a job where you can let your mind wander.  What does she do?  She counts pills.  The number must be correct.  No mistakes.  She likes working with people better— delivering their bottles, but this pays lots more!

She has an another new neighbor.  She another tall basketball player for Tech.  Tech starts August 17th.  I’m praying Sig loves college.

Test

To see how long you will live!  You start with 10 points and substrate for your boo boos.

You begin the test with a score of 10 and subtract points on your way up and down for doing the following:

Hand used for support: -1 point

Knee used for support: -1 point

Forearm used for support: -1 point

One hand on knee or thigh: -1 point

Side of leg used for support: -1 point

If you score 0 to 3, you have a poor chance to live long.  Best odds come with scoring 8 to 10.  I scored 7.  I touched both knees getting up and one hand.

I want Laura, Erin and Fleta to try this.  Helen, you better not attempt it without someone at your house to help you rise.

Swamp Rose

This is called a Swamp Rose.  It’s a wild hibiscus, very beautiful!

It’s really hot again.  Glad I have a good air conditioner!

Laura and I went to see my distant cousin at Ben Hur today.  I took her this dress Laura discarded.  I redid the sleeves.  I hope it works for her.  Also, a couple of tee shirt like dresses.

Irene’s grandson made me a key ring.  I love it.  Two weeks after Larry passed, I was robbed.  Windows smashed in the car and valuables taken.  I had a leather key ring Larry had bought for me.  Irene asked her grandson to make me a replacement.  I’m so honored.  Jannifer sent us off with garden treasures—beautiful tomatoes, squash, sweet corn, cucumbers.  My kind of food.

Hot Again

Laura got her hair cut.  All the gray has turned her hair blond.  I guess she was tired of being “red on the head. “

Astrid said these two deer were not afraid just stood and watched her.   I thought of the phrase “ watching you, watching me!”

Greta has a new soccer picture.  She’s a Goblin!

Mowed Again

Grass is mowed once more.  Three hours in the sun but I have a great hat Sister Helen brought me from sunny Arizona.  Thank you, Sisterđź’š

Thought I was finished.  Blew the mower off.  Got a glass of tea and sat down on the back porch to admire my work.  I missed a big spot.  It was because of the big place I burned the brush pile.  I got up and finished it.  Took 3 hours this time.

Meadow Walking Today

At 6:30, Phinnie and I walked in Galla Meadow. He’s older and has injured his back leg.  Like a child, he runs ahead then sits and waits for me.  I spotted the yellow Partridge Pea and a field of Tickseed.  Galla pond was smiling because of all the nice rains.  I communed with a friend, the Holy Spirit💚💛💚

Sigrid In White Sand

Sigrid was invited to go south to the beach again.  This time she’s at Gulf Shores, I think.  These melt to your body dresses are the rage.  Siggie looks good in hers.  I can’t imagine me in one though.  I would clear the beach.

The dress is called a body con dress!  A bodycon dress is a form-fitting garment that hugs the curves of the wearer, accentuating their figure and highlighting their body's natural contours. The term "bodycon" is derived from the words "body-conscious," which perfectly encapsulates the essence of this dress style.

Well Dressed Guest

A special guest dropped by dressed in finery and whistling a sweet song to lift me out of my doldrums once more.

Company

Sister Fleta and I are having a grand old time.  We had a salad from Wendy’s last night.  Today we’ve walked far and I fixed bacon and poached eggs.  Poached eggs were a favorite of our Dad, Cotton Powell.  Momma would have fixed good biscuits but I just toasted some bread.  Hope Sister Fleta will come again🫧💜🫧

Meadow Grazing

One horned wonder!  Phinnie ran to chase them away and they just stared at him.

Sister Fleta came to spend the night.  We’re researching family history together.  We both love it.

Helen sent old bread to the chickens.  They are feasting.

Mess Gone

Yesterday, Eric came over and started my brush pile burning.
I restacked the pile over and over.  That’s the only way to burn it all.
Finally I had just a few limbs left.  Then today only the ashes.  I’m glad it’s done buti won’t say it was easy.

Brat or Barbie

Ingrid made 100 percent on her first Nuclear Physics exam.  Sounds so hard.  She works for her good grades.  She makes notes and studies hard.  She’s doing great in medical terminology too.
Ingrid loved Bratz dolls when she was young.  Astrid sent her this saying she wouldn’t be allowed in the new Barbie movie.  We all loved it because we remembered all those dolls she had.

Bath for House

Eric gave their house a bath.  It really made it look great.  He washed the concrete around  the pool too.

Sometimes we all need a little washing.

Ada Loves Pig Tails

Erin bought Ada some cute little ties for her hair.  She loves pigtails.

Ada had to go for her well check.  Oh dear, it was shot time, but she got to pick a treasure out of the Dr.’s Chest.  Getting these cool glasses made getting the shots worth it.  She looks good in them.
