10 Years

My brother Clayton has been gone 10 years today.  I tried to not think of it, but over and over it reared its head.

Sister Helen’s sunflowers are beautiful.  Sister Fleta told us about their uniqueness.  They’re amazing flowers. Not only do sunflowers resemble the sun, their blooms also follow the sun across the sky. They have their own biological clocks which help them to follow the sun as it moves from east to west during the day, and then move back to their original position at night. They do this as young plants, as it helps them to grow properly. Once fully grown, they stay facing east attracting bees and other pollinators.

Chicory

On the road near Coin, AR I saw this beautiful little plant growing near where Cecil Meek lived when I was just a girl.  Chicory!  It’s cultivated for salad leaves, buds, and or roots.  The roots are baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute. In the 21st century, inulin, an extract from chicory root, has been  used in food manufacturing as a sweetener and source of dietary fiber. Chicory is also grown as a forage crop for livestock.  That may be why I saw it near Coin as JR Snow has a big farming operation there now!  Take me back country roads🤍

New Shower Head

Enjoyed being with my sisters.  Helen wouldn’t take a picture without make up.  I took her picture on the sly.  I never was one to wear a lot of makeup, but Helen does the whole 9 yards.  She looks good too. I’m hopeless. Fleta was trying to push me off the porch.
Larry redid our bathroom.  He put the shower head where he could shower and wash his hair.  He was 6’9” so it’s really high. Astrid and Logan got me a new one and Logan put it in today.  It’s some lower and I can take the sprayer off and hold it if I wish.
Ingrid made a new door hanger with her new surname today.
