I’m Just a Speck

The October wolf moon is almost full, but I’ve been amazed at the other bright light in the eastern sky as the moon rises.  It’s very plain in this photo.  Go out and look up tonight.  That bright star is really not a star; it’s a planet—Jupiter!  Jupiter is brighter than all the stars. It’s ascending in the east after sunset, visible all night.  The heavens were stitched by God and I am just a speck on a ball, but He knows me and reaches down to hold my hand.

I saw no Way—The Heavens were stitched—

I felt the Columns close—

The Earth reversed her Hemispheres—

I touched the Universe—

And back it slid—and I alone—

A Speck upon a Ball—

Went out upon Circumference—

Beyond the Dip of Bell—

Emily Dickinson

I was moon gazing last night as much as I can here with all the trees!
