Farm Labor Garrisons and Caseys

Hard times hit Arkansas and the entire USA in 1929.  These families were going to AZ and maybe on to CA to work the harvest.  They rode in the back of that truck.  Once in these farming areas the famlies lived in tents.  Larry's Great Grandfather Charlie Garrison, his Grandfather Lewis Garrison and his father Eugene Garrison (the baby) are in this pictures.   Pat McCormack wrote on the photo as to who each person was.  Jim Garrison is behind his Sister Cretie sporting the cap.  I don't think Charlie and Bess and Leon went just the Caseys and Lewis' family.

I looked at the 1930 census. Both Cretie Garrison Casey and Sister Clarissa Garrison Casey are in AZ...think it is Glendale. But Lewis Garrison is in northern Pope Co. in the National Forest. Says he is a trucker. So if he went to AZ he did not stay there.

Gilbert rode in th back of that little Datsun when they came to see us. I rode in the back growing up and was too ignorant to know it was uncouth.
