Usin' Up the Eggs!



I was trying to use up some of those dozens
of eggs I have been getting. So I made
german chocolate cake with the home
made icing that takes egg yolks. Well,
then I had all those extra egg white so
I had to make a lemon pie so I could use
the whites to make the meringue.
Holy buckets, finally I came out even
or I would still be in the kitchen.

In Wisconsin, where I used to live, a favorite dessert was Schaum torte - baked meringue served with sweetened strawberries. You made me remember that today, Sister 3.

I'd love to have a bite of your german chocolate cake with a cup of coffee. Oh boy - what treats.

Sister, the meringue on that pie is beautiful!

I use the recipe for german chocolate cake that's on the chocolate bar and I'm almost certain it uses the whites in the cake. I can't remember having them left over.
If I was there I'd have to have a piece of the cake and the pie too!

Oh that looks sooo good. I've been in the same fix around here. I made a whipping cream pound cake thursday..it takes 6 eggs, we had deviled eggs one day & breakfast another day for supper! I think I'm gonna make a breakfast cass. for supper tomorrow!

I am probably the worst cook in the world. I'm sure that's why Kell and Jay are such good ones. The pie and cake look delicious.
