Each fall and spring our county cleans the ditches by the gravel roads. Larry said they
could dump the extra dirt on the side of our
meadow. Now it all needs to be spread out
with a bulldozer, but in the piles this pretty
bush grew. I am sure it was at the side of an
old lady's yard and the county scooped up a
piece of root. I was trying to get up to it and
see if we might move it to Laura's yard....and
yes, there was another snake. I decided this
would have to wait until fall when Mr. Snake
was in a hole!

i always know what a panic/anxiety attack feels like when i see a snake. i get all 'swoony.' i hate that i want to be brave... just not in my jeans.
I think you keep putting snake pictures on here to scare me!
Snakes are one of the unexpected scares. I'll be walking along a trail and all of a sudden I'll see a snake. I tense, they scurry off (so far, at least, in my experience) and then on I go. I often wonder if they're scared of me?
Wow how pretty!! I would have a flat nose shovel for that snake & then dig up that pretty bush!
Betty, did you know if you stuff your socks and pant legs with sassafras leaves the snakes will not bother you. They will turn around and leave as fast as they can.

I learn from old Sister everyday. i had no idea that if I stuffed my socks with leaves snakes would go away. I will tell Larry too. Erin could do it and if she does pee her pants the leaves will catch the uring. sis 3

If you scream and run like crazy, the snake won't chase you. I've found that out.

I guess Fleta is laughing at me thinking I am out in the woods stuffing my pants with leaves...she probably thought I would be stupid and get poison ivy and stuff it in my socks...
