Here are my peas and potatoes before cooking and after. I made what Momma called Johnny Cakes. It was too hot to cook with the oven. You know, I don't recall Momma ever saying it was too hot to cook supper when I was a kid!
journey cake is the name, named that because people made them when they were moving from one place to another. I think our people made them when they were traveling to Mo.in the covered wagon.
She did call them johnny cakes...I do not ever remember eating fresh peas..Frozen is much better than canned... The new potatoes look great..The Johnny cakes looked burned just like Mom's always did...Must have used a cast iron skillet..and no I did not know they were supposed ti be called journey..that will not surprise anyone.

Yes, I knew they were journey cakes, but I think Momma called them Johnny, but you know I can't remember anything! Sometimers.
