Sic 'em

Snake got in one of the Feist's pens and they pulled it in half and destroyed in a minute. Then they shook and slung the pieces. It was a Rat snake and was probably thinking of eating my chicken eggs. He can forget that thought!

Good Enough To Eat

I can make a good pie. My crust is flaky and it is eaten up but Sister, I still wish I could draw those pretty things on the top of my crust! I think that might make it taste even better.

Visitor Stopped By

Had a visitor on the porch this morning...wish he was visiting Helen on her little deck! I guess more critters than I think my porch is a nice place to rest.

Greta's new toy!

Gourds

Siggie's friend gave her gourd seed for her birthday (that is in March). I have them in one of my flower beds. I thought gourds were supposed to grow into huge vines. I water this one daily and it is still small. I hope Siggie and I will have a few gourds on it. Since it has bloomed I am hopeful.

Too Much of Anything Is Bad

Too many Black Birds is a bad thing.

I had to get a new birdfeeder as the red winged black birds were just knocking all the little seed out of my feeder. I found one on sale for 14.00 that would work, but I liked this lighthouse feeder. It cost $30.00. This Sister is the one who is ...shall we say....tight or frugal...I showed Larry the two feeders and he said buying something you DON'T want because it is on sale is not a smart thing to do. People do it everyday...but I bought the lighthouse feeder I wanted! It looks really nice by my sunflower feeder and the Black birds can't knock all the seeds on the ground.

A Place to Sit

A new doorbell and a great place to sit puts me sitting pretty. I can hide when someone rings my doorbell and sit whenever I want to!
Larry has been working on my place to sit. He put a shelf for the radio. We leave it on to discourage the deer and crows. It works good for crows. Not so good for deer. Varmint discourager is lying ready on the coffee table. Sitting out here in the morning with my coffee is great. I don't have an Elvis cup and don't even wish for one!
Here is my new sun hat hanger. I love it!

Erin's gang are at Tampa at an Aquarium. She sent this by her phone. I love the blue. Clayton will soon be 3 and Greta 8 months.

Siggie's Gap

Siggie has a gap in her smile as of today. She had to have a cap put on a back tooth because of a cavity. She said to Pop when he asked to see it--"it may be rusty now, Pop, but when I brush it is shiny!" Siggie has gone to Florida with her family for 10 days. I will be crying all 10 of them as I miss her already. She has a mutt. Her Dad picked it up by the highway where someone dumped it. He knew it would get run over where it was. Siggie claimed it. Pop told her that while she was gone he was going to dock that tail. She named her pup, Skittles, because that is her favorite candy!

Hay Off The Meadow!

Mr. Norris cut the hay off the Meadow and it sure is pretty.

Flower Beds

I hung my red bird feeder and wind chime on the double tree Richard gave me.
This is hens and chickens. Grandma Gaddy would grown them. They need full sun and very little water. I am trying them again and will probably kill them.
This is Mexican Heather I put in an old rusty bucket.
This plant is called Blue Haze.
These are bird house gourds.
The hanging pots having flowering moss in them. The plants are day lilies called Forgotten Dreams.
Larry built me this flower bed this week. The red flowers are Impatients.
He built this bed beside the porch.
I had to go to school Tues. and Wed. and after that I have worked in the flowers. I need mulch in all the beds. Keep looking for a sale.

When Sister was here..

she spotted Pop's Harley in the garage...she climbed on it and I could tell she wanted to go for a spin. I shouted, "get off, get off, before you turn it over on your leg." She insisted she could ride it and I bet she could!

Mockingbird

This Mockingbird was in the front yard this weekend. I love the Mockingbirds. They are in my front yard, not the back where the feeders are.

I am singing like the bird as my internet is fixed. There was a car wreck that hit a fiber optic cable...to make a long story short...one of the fibers went to this computer!

My Summer is Here!

In the fall of 1972, Daddy and Clayton visited my new home in Pottsville. I started to work about 2 weeks after school began, in Pottsville, AR teaching 3rd grade. Today I completed 39 years and I am ready for my 39th summer break. I am a little sad that it is so hot that I just want to stay inside where it is cool, but maybe there will be a few good days.
