Living With Sister

Sigrid came over to visit Sunday. Pop asked what she had been doing and she said making signs.  She has to leave for school at the crack of dawn whereas Ingrid remains home at least 45 minutes after Sig has left.  Eric wants to get to school early and prepare for his day. After school you are too tired to do anything.  After Sigrid leaves Ingrid raids her closet and chooses items to wear.  Sig said she was fed up so she posted warning signs.  She thinks buying lock may be the answer.  I love the elephant hanging there—meaning an elephant never forgets !

Saw this photo on FB.  Third from left is Asti and fourth is Laura.  They are working out at the St. Mary's Fitness Center.  Laura goes in the evening during the week as she gets to see how Astrid is doing and gets exercise.  If some children want to do the routines, Astrid gets to take them and go through the workout with them.  When Astrid isn't working and goes to the Center, she gets to clock in and get paid for the time she is there.   How neat!  If she managed to go an hour a day on  top of when she works, that would add up to 50 bucks for the week.  The local hospital owns this fitness center so Astrid is employed by the hospital.  She loves her job there.   Loves her supervisor.  Loves the atmosphere as she loves exercise.  Pop made her some bird houses and Laura said she was painting them over the weekend and putting them up in her yard!  Life is good.  Ingrid took the ACT again last week.  I hope she gets even an higher score!

Team Bonding

Greta’s entie basketball team went to the lady Razorback game today.  Greta got their autographs.

New Homes for my Friends

Larry built and put up two more Blue Bird houses for me today.  Both have clean outs so I can help them stay spiffy.  This one has a Ducks Unlimited roof.

Fleta will like this little house it has a remembrance of Kentucky, our ancestors homeland!

Astrid’s Projects

Here are Astrid’s two weekend projects.  The jars are for hand soap, I think.  The two lamps she redid for her bedroom.  Both look great.

Cool Day

Our duck is still at the pond.  I doubt he stays but we enjoy watching  him glide over the water.
Phinnie loves going for a walk but his belly almost drags.  He has very short legs.
Astrid added a street sign to the road to our pond.  It is fitting. Pop fixed her another towel hanger.  She came over quickly and picked it up.  She is working on projects of her own.   She bought 2 lamps off of swap and painted and reconditioned them for the bedroom.  She loves looking for bargains and refurbishing them.

Patsy helped pick prom dress

Ingrid went to Springdale to debate and afterwards she and Laura went to a shop to look for a prom dress for Ingie.   She is going to the prom with Langston Parker.  Well, the lady above was there getting a dress for her granddaughter.  Patsy (??not really of course) told which dress she liked.  The way the older lady is dressed is not like Patsy but if you look at her face she really looks like Old Sister.
Which dress did Ingie pick.  Well, look in comments and you can see.  It is the one Patsy said looked the best on her.  Oh course they all looked good!

RHS Debate Team

Ingrid is on the RHS Debate Team and is debating today.  I hope she proves her points.
Ingrid presents her case.

Happy ❤️ Day

Laura is wearing the silver bangles today.

And...she sent this video of her Valentine gift. I bet Astrid picked it out.  I told her she better keep a close watch on it.  My coffee would taste very good in this cup!

Momma’s House

Helen will have lived in our old home place five years this fall.  Momma would love how pretty it is.   Helen just finished painting the walls gray and adding new accents.  Clayton had the house dark and closed up, but Helen let the light back in.  Clayton just wanted to stay warm or cool and watch sports.  He loved sports.
Momma wanted to see out, see down the road, see who might be coming to visit.  She liked a fan and open windows not air conditioning.  She wanted air moving.
I like the new look Helen.  It all looks clean and airy.

Silver Bangles

When I went away to college in 1968, one of my roommates was a girl named Kayanna.  I remember she was majoring in art.  At the first of school, this was June 1968, I had a single roommate named Muriel.  The school was out of rooms and they opened the top floor of a dorm. This was the 4th floor of a large brick dormitory.  About 10 girls were asked to move there.  I was one of them.  We had a large common bath with several sinks, showers, and stools.  There were no walls but each of us has an area of the room.

Kayanna was one of these dozen girls. She was from Nevada, Missouri. Over  Christmas break 1968, she went on a trip to Mexico and on her return she gave me this silver bracelet.  I think silver was not expensive there.  The bracelet was bright and was made with fine roses around it.  I found it again about a year ago and tried to clean it with recipes I found on the internet.  It had turned almost black.  Not long ago I gave it to Laura.  She used silver cleaner on it.  It is not as pretty as when kayanna gave it to me, but it looks better.
At Ancestry, I found a picture of Kayanna when she was in 7th grade.   Now, I wonder if she bought all the roommates gifts or just me?  Below you can see the bracelet after cleaning it up.  Laura said she and Ingie would wear it!   I am happy to pass it on.
This got me thinking about those girls I lived with on the fourth floor!  I have a year book and I plan to find all their names.

Cursive

Greta is learning to use cursive writing.  I especially like how she wrote Greta.  It’s so pretty.  Cursive writing is going by the wayside.  Lots of adults just print.  I think Astrid and Ingrid use print.  Both have beautiful script.  I strongly believe that youngsters should be taught to write in cursive.  They may still choose to use block print, but they will be able to read cursive.  Most of our country’s foundation documents are in cursive.  We need to be able to read them.  Glad Greta is learning cursive.

Astrid and Logan

Astrid and Logan went to a friend’s wedding tonight at the Catholic Church here.  It’s a beautiful church.  Astrid and Logan look so good together.  They are both really nice people.

To Be Blond Again

Ingrid paid a month or so ago to have her hair lightened.  Well, it really did not change her color so today she went for it again.  I don’t think it’s silly as I always did the same thing.  When I was younger my hair was blond but as I have aged it gets darker and darker.  I would have mine lightened like Ingrid if it would work but now when I have it done mine just looks gray.  I love Ingrid’s streaks of blond.

I Tried to Read Slow

Laura bought this book and let me read it first.  She knew I would enjoy it.  I tried to read it slowly but shortly before 2:00 I had finished it.  If I have a good book to read now, I try to read slowly.  It never works.  Dani did the ancestry DNA test.  Her husband ordered one for himself so she did it too.
Her half sister had been tested and right away she saw her sister was not related to her.  This was a beginning and this was an ending to what was.  The book is about her journey of discovery of self.  Sometimes, the hardest part of discovery is acceptance.   It’s a great read!

Super Bowl

We love having Eric come watch the Super Bowl at our house because Laura makes a spread of great food.  These are her football brownies!

Remembering

I am trying to remember this day.  I think my dress was green.  Patsy married in June 1959.  Helen was born in 1954. So I think this was before Patsy married. We are barefoot but I think Sharon and jerl Dean have on shoes.  It was summer time.  Wish I could remember this day.

Warmer Day

Larry's brother brought us two loads of gravel for our road to the shop over by our new pond.   Larry spread one load today.  He was really tired afterwards but he is half finished.  Our road is muddy in wet weather and we want to be able to drive over there at our will.  The road looks lots better.  Now he will fix a turn around by the shop with the second load.

Greta Cheers

Greg and Erin took Greta and Clayton to a lady Razorback game!  Great adventure.
