Hey, Girls, Did you hear....

That Greg Jones went back to Harrison--
Come on over; the party is on :-)

I heard about what he hangs his hat on...

Two More Done

Two more puzzles are completed. The church one
was not that hard...but the one with the
hidden horses was a booger. Astrid let me glue
it. I use regular cheap school glue and put a piece
of fabric on the back. First turn the puzzle
picture side now...then empty the entire small
bottle of glue on the puzzle. Place the piece
of fabric on the glue and press down well.
I like to use these puzzles on tables as you can
sit a glass on it. The fabric works better than card
board on the back.

Painted Tea Towel!

Astrid made me this tea towel for Christmas.
I really like it!

Well, Merry Christmas is Here!

I've been thinking. Remember that Christmas
hard candy that we always had. It would stick
together. There would be white and green pieces
with little roses and such on them. Where is
that candy. No more Hard candy Christmases.
Merry Christmas

Puzzle for Patsy

I ordered Astrid and Pop a bunch of
puzzles off the internet. It was better
than Walmart as their were endless choices.
Pop picked this one to do first. The one
they are working on now is horses with hidden
horses and it is hard. Astrid said Erin may
have to help when she comes Christmas as she
is a puzzle girl too. Astrid is staying all
night so she can work on the puzzle. Siggie
did not get to come up and see us for she
would cry to stay all night too.

Never Satisfied

I am cold all winter and hot all summer.
It is 14 degrees here. I am making a apple
cake...because it has to bake an hour and
my kitchen will smell good and be warm.
I took this picture last March...this reminds
me that winter has only just begun and we
have at least 3 more months of cold weather
ahead!

Trees then and now.

This is not a tree from my life...
but it was taken in 1947. It makes
me think about trees then and now.

Daddy would go cut a tree. He would
take an ax and I guess some of us would
tag along. Sometimes he took the wagon
and mule. Anyway, he would always cut a
big tree. He always dreamed big and when
it arrived at the house, I know Momma always
thought, "Oh, dear, that tree is just too
big". The living room was 12 by 12 I think..
so imagine his huge cedar tree. Daddy always dreamed
big. It seems they put the tree in a bucket
with dirt and rocks to hold it...or just rocks.
We decorated the tree with stuff we made but we
always had those aluminum foil icicles to put on
it. I know Fleta has some pictures of our master
pieces and she should post them.

We tried to talk Momma into getting spray snow and
we sprayed it on all the windows. What a job this
is going to be to clean up...was what Momma was
thinking. Daddy always said he liked it but he did
not have to help scrap it off the windows.

Christmas morning there might be gifts...well, there
would be gifts if Daddy and Mommy had a dollar at all.
There would be a big meal. There would be laughter and
joy. There was always a big dream in our hearts because
Daddy gave that to us...we all dream big. Patsy is dreaming
of chickens in the spring today! I am dreaming of retiement
on Galla Creek.

Erin's Tree

Erin's tree last year. She says she needs a
new tree but it looks really good to me.

Clayton's Visit

A secretary at school said her son was
potty trained at 7 months. Everyone just
laughed out loud at her. And she said "well,
maybe it was 9 months.
Clayton is about 6 months--in weeks--his birthday
is Dec. 27! He is not potty trained but he
can walk; he can talk; he eats with a fork and
spoon. He is writing a book and he told me about
the first two chapters. It will be a best seller
and he will do book signings when he is a year
old. Oh, you can send $20.00...if you want a
first edition copy. Email me for his address!

of Patsy...she tries something and brother
and I follow right along!

My Tree--For Winnie & Helen

Clayton's coming tomorrow...I swept a bushel
of dirt and lint from my house. Put up my tree
so he can enjoy the lights.

Workers Unite

I think my Banties read my blog and had
a Union meeting. They laid 4 eggs the same
number as the Red Star chickens. But with
the Banties I have to employ 18 workers to
get 4 eggs and with the Red Star hens I only
have 6 workers. I am going to break up that
Union just like the southern Rep. are trying
to destory the American Auto Workers union.
One of those Banties even tried laying a bigger
egg...they are not fooling me. I am sticking
with Red Star.

Local Economy

I have 18 Bantie hens.
I have 6 Red Star hens.
I got 5 eggs yesterday from all 2 dozen hens.
The Red Star eat more than a Bantie.
Do they eat 4 time more? I think not and I
am going to get me some more Red Star hens.
Which egg would you rather have for breakfast?

Laura's tree for Helen

I have not had a tree in several years.
Don't think I will this year either. Here
is Laura's tree. She has a lot of my old
ornaments..including those eggs that Aunt
Betty made by hand.

Ingrid turns Seven!

Ingrid turns 7 this week. This is
the cake I bought her--all ice cream
and the doll she picked out. She is
growing up fast. She loves dolls and
dancing and singing. My talented girl!

Being Interviewed at School

I am getting a mule for Christmas. The mule
will be for Larry and I. We will share it.
Can't wait to ride my mule. I will not have
much time to ride in the winter but I think I
will enjoy a good mule in the summer time.

7th graders have to take ARK History.
They have been studying about the Great
Depression. One task was to interview someone
who lived through it. If they could not find
a relative that old Mrs. Heffley told them
to go interview Mrs. Renfroe! Well, I am
really not old enough to remember that time..
but with all the stories I have heard from
Daddy I answered the questions just fine.

I remember in school. My lunch cost 15 Cents
a day. I told the interviewers there was no
'free lunch'. And even if there were my
Father would have never participated in such.
Almost a third of the kids at school qualify
for a free or reduced lunch...a land of
poverty!

Visitors this week

This red fox likes corn too!

This buck came by....

And this young spike

And someone's dog is hanging around. They
keep him up in the day and let him roam at
night...very irritating!

Five girls came by in the day time after
they heard Greg JOnes had went home to
Harrison. When Greg was here they only
came after dark!

New Prisoner!

Siggie has to go to bed at 8 so this morning.
She asked her Mom ...who won...Boma or Cain?
Laura told her Obama won and Siggie said with
great wisdom. She carries some of Aunt Fleta's
genes.

Quote from Siggie..."Well, he is the prisoner now!"

Our Own Photographer

Erin can take pictures as well as any
professional. She took several this weekend
and I will post some along. Laura wanted
a picture for her Christmas card. I don't
know which one she will use but I like this
one.
