Big Day For Sig

Sigrid had surgery today.  At first she said I couldn’t mention it, but then she had a change of heart.  She’s 17.  The surgery was breast reduction.  She went from an f-g size to a C today.  She looking forward to normal size bras and buying tops to wear.  She wore a lot of sweatshirts to hide under.
This is what the Dr. removed.  Over 2 pounds.
She was really scared.

She’s home and recovering.  I hope this brightens her future and outlook on life in general.

Indian Blanket Sunflower

This is a perennial.  I think it’s really special.

New Test

News today says if one can’t detect the odor of peanut butter with your left nostril, it may indicate Alzheimer’s disease.  Place a ruler between jar and nostril.   The team found that the odor detection distance of AD patients’ left nostril (5.1cm), and not their right (17.4cm), was much less than the other groups.  5 cm is about 2 inches.  17.4 is almost 6 inches.  The difference in the two is the key.  The disease affects portions of the olfactory cortex.  The initial sites of AD pathology and patients with AD often have more degeneration of their left than the right hemisphere.  Very interesting….

Happy Birthday

My little Grandson is 6’2” and 14 today.  Where did all the time go.  Happy birthday!

Road Block

Lil Red is home and heat or no,

off we go to walk.  I hit a few road blocks, better called road flocks.

Goosey goosey gander,

Whither shall I wander?

Upstairs and downstairs,

And in my lady’s chamber.

There I met an old man,

Who wouldn’t say his prayers,

So I took him by his left leg,

And threw him down the stair.

Day is Done

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

Another day has passed.  I’m still here.  Doing my little things that add up to nothing.  I am thankful for all the Lord has allowed me to see and do in my lifetime.  I am but a grain of sand.  Not much.

Heated Walk

What I saw as I marched along to the beat of rising heat—part of blue jay egg, hawk feathers, a man fishing in a little boat, thistle,  a spider waiting to grab me in his web and sumac in bloom.    The hay field will soon be harvested.  It may be 100 today!  Growing up we had one fan.  I have several and central air.  Thankful for my little corner of His world.

Psalm 9:1  I give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart…

Decade slid by…

Home Soon

Beach bums will be home soon.  It’s been quite lonesome without them.

Heave Ho

Sigrid’s beach photos are always originals.   Heave-ho, heave-ho

I'll tell you a tale of the bottomless blue
And it's hey to the starboard, heave-ho
Look out, lad, a mermaid be waiting for you
In mysterious fathoms below💙💙

What Lasts

How long will it last?  Well, if you want to buy what lasts buy honey.  So why does honey never go bad? Honey is antibacterial, which means that you don’t have to worry about anything funky growing in your honey. You don’t have to toss that honey! Even if honey had been sitting on your shelf for 2,000 years, that honey would still be as good as the day you opened it. In a nutshell, well-stored honey never expires or spoils, even if it’s been previously opened. Honey also has a pH of about 3.26-4.48, which helps to also stave off anything bacterial trying to make a home in your honey.   Nature is smarter than we are!

Tomato Time

It’s tomatoes and gravy time!  My cousin Frankie sent me a picture of his breakfast—hash browns, bacon, but the kicker is the tomatoes and gravy.  My Daddy loved tomatoes covered with gravy and Momma fixed us a “mess” as soon as we had ripe tomatoes!  Frankie also sent me a verse for today.  Romans 15:13-- 'May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.'  Wow, the power of the Holy Spirit…that’s even better than ripe tomatoes topped with gravy.

Mowing Day Again

The fog on Galla Lake was so beautiful yesterday.  Sandburg said it sneaks in on little cat feet.  I love imagining a big cat carrying the fog along on its back spreading it over the water.  Yesterday was mowing day.  Siggie saw my sunburned knees last week and told me I must wear long pants or sunscreen on mowing day.  Well, I wore long pants and still was sunburned a little.  Proverbs 14:23 In hard work there is always profit, but too much chattering leads to poverty.

I baked my chickens a pan of cornbread!  They clucked at me.  I think they were saying thanks!

Mowing Day

Laura’s bunch are at the beach.  Pretty Boy is staying with Phinnie.  Pretty likes Wheel of Fortune.  Phinnie wanted to watch something else.
My grand girls know I love chickens.  I think this is Siggie Chick.

Trumpet Vine are blooming along my lane.  I’ve started spraying.   Today is mowing day again.  Three hours of work this afternoon.  Head mowers work is never done.  Trumpet Vine—hummingbirds like them Southern Living does not…it said “might as well plant poison ivy”.
