Last Day of Month

Sigrid turned 15.  We had strawberry pie.  Her choice.  It was really good.
The scenery picture is Lake Dardanelle with Mount Nebo behind it.  Mount Nebo is a Arkansas State Park.

Door Decorated

Astrid’s front door.   It looks nice.  I am sure she free hand drew the welcome.

She has vegetables in her raised beds again.

Trying to “Walk from Home”

Phinnie and I are trying to walk from home since I was robbed at the walking trail.  I will not walk there again.  Laura has carried us to Lake Dardanelle a few times.  But I hope to get exercise right here.

The two pictures  are using the pan lense on my new phone.  One is Galla Lake and the other Crow Mt. where I live.

I am afraid sometimes now.  I was never alone until Larry passed. I try to lock my doors.  I am trying to stay in bed and not get up at 2 or 3 in the morning, but it is hard.  Larry was very sick and I am glad he got to cross over.  I never thought this would have been so difficult.  Maybe if I had not been robbed and this sickness had not arrived I would be better, but the best way to describe how I feel is “lost and empty”.

Sam’s Throne

Today Astrid, Laura and I hiked Sam's Throne near Mount Judea.   It was 2 and a half miles but I barely made it.  So ashamed that I can't do more.  In the top photo you can see Astrid as a little white speck in the distance.  She went near the edge of the cliffs.  I get dizzy and was afraid to go there.  I forgot my walking stick but Laura made me one.
I had to do a little research about Sam's Throne.  He was Sam Davis and he lived near here long ago.  Toward the end of his life he became a little senile and he would preach from a rounded mountain near where we hiked.  They said he preached "hell, fire and brimstone".
This is not my photo.  I downloaded one.  The hill in the background is actually "Sam's Throne".
Found this at www.MountJudea.org
The legend of Sam’s Throne, handed down from generation to generation, tells about Sam Davis standing atop his mountaintop throne preaching hellfire and damnation to the Big Creek valley. It seems that ole Sam was born somewhere around 1795 and came to this area in the 1830's following the trail of Indians who had kidnapped his sister. The trek brought him up the Mississippi River to the White River, up the White to the Buffalo and up the Buffalo River to Big Creek and up Big Creek to Dry Creek, where he lost the trail. Here he settled and one day while out looking for a lost cow, a woman’s voice answered his call for the cow. The two kept calling to each other and as they came nearer each other, the legend says that Sam recognized the woman as his long-lost sister, who was now the wife of an Indian chief who lived on Cave Creek.

March 24

Sigrid will be 15 soon and then Astrid 20 and little Ada will have her first birthday.  Precious children.

If the sun would shine for a few days, I think my spirits would lift.  The house I live in seems empty with just Phinnie and I.  I always so enjoyed coffee in the early morning and a little time alone.  Now, I have complete time alone and coffee is making me sick.

I just want to please the Lord in all I do.  Help me today, Sweet Jesus.

March 21

Larry has been gone three weeks.  On March 17th my purse and all my documents were stolen.  I am writing this so I can recall the date.

I still hope that I can do some things in this life that my Lord will applaud.

In addition to his grandparents and parents, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Walter Renfroe; and his step-father, George Wheatley.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty Powell Renfroe; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Christensen (Eric) and Erin Jones (Greg); three brothers, Gary Renfroe, Douglas Wheatley, and Roger Garrison; two sisters, Evelyn Garrison and Cynthia Nelson; six grandchildren, Astrid, Ingrid, Sigrid, Clayton, Greta and Ada; and two aunts, Pearl Grigsby and Helen Renfroe.

Pop always put his family first.  He drew his last breath on February 29 so we would only have to live the anniversary every four years.
