Two Old Cowhands

Two old cowhands head in’ to school at Harrison!!

I’m an old cowhand from Harrison land

But my legs ain’t bowed and my cheeks ain’t tanned

I’m a cowgirl who never milked a cow

Never roped a steer ’cause I don’t know how

And I sure ain’t fixin’ to start in now

Halloween Dress up Party

Astrid’s Halloween party went off without a hitch.  I’m not up on tv characters but Astrid and Sigrid were step brothers.  Laura was Lucille Ball and I do know that character.  Bob was a turtle.  They played games.  Astrid loves games and any party she throws will have games.

Greta is coming today for her birthday party with me.  I can’t wait to see my two Jones girls.  Clayton isn’t coming.  His other Grandmother is cooking fish so he chose fish over me.  I love fish and do get his point.

Visiting Barbara

Barbara is at Carolyn’s house.  She is our oldest brother’s wife of 63 years so she is a sister to the three Sisters.  Richard passed almost 15 years ago.  I hope the next time I go to the home place I can go visit too.

I walked at the crack of dawn just in case the rains came falling down.  Then Laura called for our “Lake walk” as still the rains held off.  I walked again.  Walking twice is something that can’t be bad!  The Park’s Red Maples were full of red and their Dogwood’s a deep plum.  Astrid didn’t walk with us.  She ran the 5 K at Fall Fest with her friend Faith.  Hats off to all the runners and walkers.

Astrid and her friend Faith outran the rain at the Fall Fest 5 K.  Great work, Ladies.

Chicken Carving

Astrid carved a pumpkin but her chickens thought it was candy for them.  Life of a chicken farmer….🫠

Walk Early

I try to walk everyday.  Today I started as soon as I could see where I was stepping.  When I finished a new day had dawned.
Ada’s first school picture is in the books.  There will be lots more.  She looks like a little school girl.

Foggy

Yesterday was a foggy morning and I walked though.  I felt foggy too.
I voted.  If in doubt I always vote against.

High Lighted

A few weeks back, ingrid got highlights put in her hair.  It frames her face and lifts her up.  Her hair is ash blond and putting in a few light streaks really looks nice.  November 2, ingrid is going to learn more about the Baptist Health Nuclear Medicine School.  I bought her an interview outfit.  Astrid goes on her first RN nurse interview this week.  I paid for a black Worthington suit for her to wear.  She chose pants.  Ingrid did too.  I hope I get to see how good each looks in their professional duds.

Laura’s car is on the blink again so she’s wheeling around in Pop’s truck.  He’s still taking care of her.

Astrid came by to print her resume and I got to see her in her interview outfit.  I’m sure they’ll want to hire her as she is the very best everything.  Oh, that’s her Gigi speaking.  ðŸ˜‡

Senior Photos

Sigrid had her senior remembrance photos taken Sunday.  I’ll have a hard time selecting my three.
This picture shows Sigrid sitting on my Mother’s ”flower garden” quilt.  Momma pieced it in the 1930’s above her Dad’s grocery store at Denver, AR.  The family’s living quarters was above the Gaddy Store and Garage.  Momma was in her early teens.  It’s a beautiful coverlet.

Johnny and June love Siggie.

Mighty Blackgum

Ode to the Tupelo Blackgum—I think the masterpiece of fall trees is the Tupelo Blackgum.   It grows into a mighty tree filled with beautiful, scarlet red, fall color on  shiny, dark thick leaves.  This morning as Phinnie and I strolled along, I marveled at how spectacular the Galla Meadow Blackgums were.  They glowed with only a smidgen of rain.  The prettiest is a small one as it’s in a low spot and received more moisture. God made those sparkling Arkansas diamonds, but His creation of the Tupelo Blackgum is just as magnificent.
