Greta at the Beach

Greta enjoyed the beach.  She has to remove her devices from her ears before she goes in the water. Since she started wearing her hearings aids at three, she’s taken care of them.

She is pretty responsible.  Erin made the right choice making her keep up with them, I recall thinking “she’s so little”.  She called them her “ears”.

Orlando for Sigeroo

Siggy is in Orlando competing in nationals of Educators Rising.  She and Sadie present tomorrow.  Have my fingers crossed for a win, but it was a free trip and she and Sadie are having fun.

She said this is a strawberry daiquiri, no alcohol, of course. 

Sadie and her room is big.  

They are relaxing by the pool today.  They compete tomorrow.  I think they are going to Universal Studios sometime.

Sigrid got news today that she has been awarded an Alumni scholarship to Tech.  1200$! She was a little short with her other scholarships.  This is icing on her cake.  Enough money to pay for everything! She has stayed every night in her little apartment.  She is getting used to it. 

They are ready to go watch the competition.  They’ll be able to see what they’re up against.

Beach Babe

Erin was worried about Ada and their vacation.  But she has loved everything.  She’s building sandcastles.

Prairie Blazing Star is called Cattail, and Gayfeather and is native to the tall grass prairies!  So pretty.

 

Sophia Is 18

Sigrid and her friends are such sweet girls.  For Sophia’s birthday, each girl brought something special and they had a picnic.

This is one of Astrid’s flowers.  I think it’s delicate and so pretty.  I think it’s a hydrangea!

 

Double Bad Luck

Yesterday, another storm came at 5:15.  I have more trees down and shingles scattered over my yard and in horse pasture.  I’m not good with crisis anymore.  I got Laura over here and she climbed as high as she could but couldn’t reach the spot where the shingles were standing up.  She got a piece of rebar and tried to whack them down.  There was a lull in the storm then the rain came down again. I was afraid it would leak, but maybe the tarpaper under the shingles helped.  I called the roofer I used to put the new roof on the Galla Creek house.  He was super. Said he’d come and secure until the insurance adjuster could get here.  Have limbs on the garage, he said leave then until the insurance people come.  With all the storms here of late, it may be awhile til I can get a new roof.

We had golf ball sized hail, too.

And I got a disconnect notice from the water people.  It’s drawn from my account.  I had to go to the office and get that straightened out.  I only slept a couple of hours last night.  I hate that I’m like this now.  It’s something looming and makes me wide awake.  Good news, all these problems spoil my appetite.  I’ve lost a little weight!!

Ada is Traveling Well

Erin said Ada is traveling like a trooper.  After visiting the aquarium, she received a mermaid doll.  Getting the iPad really has helped too.  She has something to do as the ride along.

 

More Wedding photos

Ingrid is fourth on left in blue.  Ellie, Sig’s friend is to the left of the bride.  Ingrid was part of the Blue Crew. Briley's "something blue".

The couple that married are a singing duo.  Ingrid went to school with both.  I suppose tight dresses are the style.  Fat girls couldn’t wear that style.  Below the friends are with maybe Ellie’s brother.

 

All these friends have help Sig adjust to her apartment.  The 4 below have stayed with her at night.  The apt is near the train tracks, there’s street lights, sometimes neighbors are noisy.  Sigrid is getting used to staying there.  She still needs a tv and she must have internet for school.  Next week she goes to Orlando, Florida to compete in the educational project she and Sadie have already won State and Regional.  This is the National contest.  

 

Wedding Bells

Sigrid and all her pals attended a wedding together this after noon.  She said the venue was a flower garden.  Ingrid presided at the guest book I think.  The bride is with the girls here.

Erin and her family are visiting and anAquarian.  Ada was amazed.

 

Memory

 Today, Shutterfly sent me this memory...said 12 years ago.  Laura and her family were together at the beach.  Now, this year, Astrid is at the beach with Logan...her husband.  Ingrid is preparing for her last year of college and Sig has moved from home into her own apartment.  Eric and Laura are alone in their big house.  Pop has passed away.  Life changes.  Time marches on.  I love the memories but look forward to the future and what is to come.  Blessings to you and your family today.  

Erin's family is on their way to Disney World.  She set us up an app so I can see where they are.  12 years ago, there was no little Ada, always smiling and saying "I love you".  So many blessings come to me.  I am thankful.

Erin sent this to show Helen.  She is an Elvis fan.  It’s his birthplace in Mississippi.  Ada is with 13 year old Elvis.  I have read several books about him.  I remember his father or grandfather went to prison for stealing a pig.  He was from a pitifully poor family.  That house is tiny.

Lily is blooming.  It’s 25 years old.  Also called Milk and Wine Lily and Trumpet Lily.  It has many folk lore uses.  I’m not sure about the healthfulness  but I’m a witness to it’s beauty.  I guess the tea is made from the blooms.

 I’m leaving the trees on the dog kennel.  It’s just to hard for me.  Logan and Astrid might help me after they return from Cancun or I’ll hire someone when the trimmers get caught up.

Sigrid is staying in her apartment.  Laura fixed her hair for work.  It’s sort of twisted, called fish tail.  She got approval for the pharmacy tech position so she received a raise.  Laura found a big pipe not too long when we walked.  She took it to her to put by the door.  Sig said— what’s this and Laura said it’s a weapon.  Use it if you have to.
