Marathon Photos

Found these at the Russ Vegas site.  You can order them, but I just did print screen and got a copy.  The logo is to keep you from making copies, but that does not keep me from making a memory.

Horses and Cow Bells

I would call this horse a red dapple.  My neighbor loves horses and has about 10 for an 8 acre field.  Too many, but they do try to take care of them.
I re assembled Erin's wind chime.  She gave it to me in the 1990's.  The strings holding the chimes rotted and the center piece broke.  I bought a candle holder and tied the chimes to it with fishing twine.  I had a piece of round wood left from where Larry had cut a hole in something and the ring from a piece of chain.  It all worked but it hangs cockeyed which I hate.  Notice Patsy's cowbell!  The wind has to blow hard for it to sound.  The wheel where all this hangs was given to me by my brother and my husband mounted it on the rusty pipe.  I love it all and like to sit outside when the wind is blowing and listen to the sounds.

Below are some of my neighbors horses.  My favorite is the jack.  He brays and I love to hear the hee haw sound.  I don't enjoy horses though.  Too many folks want them and then leave them unattended.  It costs a lot to keep up a horse.  If you get tired of a cow, I guess you can always eat it.

New Ears

Erin says "Greta, what did you get today?"  To which Greta answers--"Ears"!  It seems like she can hear what Erin is saying to her in the video.

Overnight Guest

Pop called Sigrid and said "please come and stay all night."  She came last night and brought with her a complicated cake mix.  She said "Gigi, Momma said we might make this cake".  Well, you can see the cake below and I read a little of the side panel and told Sigrid that the cake was too complicated for me.  Well, really too much work.  I told her that her Momma would need to help her at home.  You can see I am not Grandma Helen.  Well, today at home she and Momma made the complicated cake and she sent a piece to her Pop.  There was no piece for Gigi.  Might be a hint in that from Sigrid.  You know the story of the little red hen.  Sig knows where the pictures end up and hid her face so you could not see her on this Blog.

Newpaper Today

Pop went to town to get a paper.  Astrid and Laura's time was listed but also this large photo was there.  It is from Transition Day at her school.  The 7th graders come over to visit and tour the school.  Astrid was also in charge of showing a group of 7th graders around the school.

Hummingbird Time

I hung up my feeder yesterday and within two hours I had little birds coming.  I love to watch them.

Also checked the half marathon times and Astrid was top in 20 to 24 age group too.

Six Long Years

Brother has been gone too long.  I remember his stories, his laughter, his love of family, his steadfastness!

Via Russ Vegas!

Laura finished in 2 hours 31 minutes and 52 seconds!  Whew!  Her feet do hurt--shoes untied! Astrid ran it in one hour 49 minutes and 10 seconds.  Astrid was first in under twenty age group.

Proceeds went to Arkansas Children's Hospital!

Good Luck, Girls!

My girls are running a half marathon in the morning.  Wishing them a smooth run and finish!

Free Wheelin'

Greta was supposed to get her new "ear rings" today; but they were not ready.  The ear mold was not in yet.  We are excited for her to get them and see how she likes what she hears!

Conference Track Meet

Astrid got 2nd in the mile at the conference track meet.  Her time was a personal best of 5:48.  The winner was only a second ahead of her.  She surprised everyone and won her next race the 800 meter run!  This is her first time to every win the 800.  We are proud of her!  Saturday she is running a half marathon in Russellville.  It is called Russ Vegas.  I told Astrid that she would probably win her age group...she said "yeah, no one else my age will be running".  Laura is doing it too.  I hope they both have good races!

Planting

I planted Kentucky Wonder Pole Beans and two rows of improved pintos.  I was going to plant squash and cucumbers but it started to storm.

Ode To The Canary Finch

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing (one cent)? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father's care. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Breakfast At My Door

Heard a knock, knock at my door early this morning. Siggie was there delivering breakfast!

Siggie's Shorts

Siggie wore a pair of her hand tailored shorts today. All the school will be envious.

Ingrid Trying Out

Ingrid is trying out for the RMS volleyball team for next year.  Above she is passing, then below defending, and in the bottom photo she is setting.  I know she will make the team because she is surely the best player in her class!

Wouldn't it be great

if Clayton loved to read!

Henry Taylor

I found this yesterday and it makes me believe that Sally Powell Taylor's husband died in Mercer County, KY and that is why we could not ever find him again.  I think the son name William is William GreenTaylor.

    Pepping 'Em Up!

The Junior High had a pep rally and Astrid and her friend Eleanor were in charge of getting the crowd into the event!  They succeeded.  Go team!

    Soccer Medal

Clayton's last soccer game was tonight and Astrid would be proud of him as he earned a medal.  Erin said he also figured out the object of the game and got more aggressive trying to score and protect his goal.  A 5 year old often does not even understand what the game is about.  Everything takes time and patience and perfect practice!
