Witch of Galla Creek

Growing up I thought my little red headed girl made the best witch!  So each Halloween I could I dressed her with a black hat and broom.  Well, she finally has figured out I was right all along!   She makes the best Winifred Sanderson!  Just as good as Bette Midler!   The children are going to fear her today!
There is a unicorn and wolf on the loose today, too!  Boo, boo!

And here is my favorite costume --  Helen the table lamp!

A Cooking She will go!

Helen bought a used Jenn Air stove on a Harrison list.  It has a convection oven.  The jewel of every baker.  She says it is working great and she is pleased.  Also, Kelly (our nephew) installed it and fixed her dryer.  The dryer was only getting 120 volts not 220.  She is glad to be able to dry her undies and cook up some good suppers.

The Tupelo Black Gum in Galla Meadow is really pretty.  We have had some rain so the leaves are not falling off all at once.  Larry is driving his brother through the mountains tomorrow so he can see the trees.  He is here from Florida.  He had a stroke some years back and he does not like driving.  He still drives but enjoys having a chauffeur.

Fleta's New Cabinet

Gilbert is making a cabinet for Fleta's bathroom so she will have a place to store things.  He does not think of all these projects.  Helen thinks of them for him.  I think it is great.  We took care of him when he was a baby and if he works the rest of his life for us....he will not repay us!
I can't figure out whose house the cabinet is in now---maybe Gilbert's.
Helen is not real smart.  She got this fern on sale--but soon it will be cold and the fern is going to make a huge mess!  The people who sold her the fern should have paid her to take it!

Beautiful Maple

This Maple is in the corner of my yard.  Larry's Mom planted it long ago.  She passed in 1998 so the tree is over 20 years old.  It is really pretty this year.

Crocodile Hunters

Astrid and Logan dressed as the Crocodile Hunter and Phoebe and Penny were crocs!   They attended the Corgi Fest at Fort Smith!

Phoebe had a grand reunion with her Dad!  She entered races and run them all!  Takes after her Momma Astrid!  Penny was horning in on Phoebe and her Dad's visit!

My New Cousin

The first person in my dna file is Astrid and here is number 2!  My newest cousin match!
Astrid's number is 1756 cm's.  Mac's is 725, Winnie's 644, and Buster's 540.

Corgi Party

Astrid and Logan are going to a Halloween party for Corgis .  Penny and Phoebe are crocs and Asti and Logan are the crocodile hunters!  She said Penny and Phoe sure did not like being crocs.  They would rather be dogs.

Greta is 8!

Greta turned 8 today.  She is thinking about this outfit for Halloween.  She also has an admirer in her class it looks like.  What a sweet note he wrote to her.
The family went out to eat for Greta's birthday.  She got to choose and she picked Red Lobster!  She is smart and has very good "taste".

Buck a Roo

This buck was very near our back door.  Phinnie did not like it one little bit.

Sigrid's Essay "What Makes A Hero!"

School Days

Clayton's school photo.  He is his Mom made over, but not as ornery.

First Time Voter

Astrid went to vote today for the very first time.  She asked me to go along!  Was I thrilled!  Yes, indeed.  Astrid wanted to vote for the higher minimum wage and I wanted her to vote against the casino issue.  She did both.  I announced to the voters and workers that she was a first time voter and we gave her a round of applause!  Go Astrid!

Little Greta

Little Greta will be 8 years old in a few days.  Here she is in her soccer picture.  She is wearing that Goblin blue!

Sig's Conferences

Sig and I went to her conferences.  She chats as we drive along and I love hearing her talk.  Her idea was her teachers would not report "bad" stuff if she were present.  All reports were good so she could have stayed home!  She made very good grades and all her teachers complimented her behavior.

I went to vote yesterday!  A nightmare.  Now, you have to show photo id.  Well, I showed my drivers license and my address on it and my address on the voter info was not the same.  One said Pottsville and one Russellville.  Forms to fill out before I could vote.  Some print was very small so I just checked yes, yes, yes and yes.  I  voted and the little lady found me saying they needed corrections.  I had checked I was a felon and had mental problems.  Oh, dear!  They need larger print on the forms.  I told Larry to get signed in and then show his id and maybe they would not caught the address differences.  I think they are really only to look at the photo of you not the other information.  Anyway, I voted against casinos and for  minimum wage increase.

Astrid wants me to go vote with her today.  I will!

Keeping Kids Involved!

Several--not all--of Laura's speech clients have other handicaps.  These two have been sewing and as they work on their projects they practice their speech goals!  The older girl I think is the one with such large sized feet.  Laura scrounges (oh, My New Patsy that may not be a word)  around to find shoes for her.   Erin has given her several pairs.  You can tell that these two students are very proud of their accomplishments!  Laura and Eric have conferences today and tonight.  I will got to Sig's.
Look what I found in a book on the internet--Sister's sister poem.  It is a wonderful verse!

Ingrid Going To big Dance

Ingrid is going to the Sadie's Dance with Adon.  Her feller from Pottsville.  She surely looks pretty.  Laura has them order inexpensive dresses from the internet and no has one like theirs that way.  Also they are much more reasonable in price.

On FB Syble's family shared this picture of her and Leon.  It was right after they married.  They were both sweet friends and cousins.  The year was 1946.
And this one of Syble and Leon and their children about 15 years later!

Joe Howard Standridge

When Joe Howard Standridge was born on February 23, 1904, in Arkansas, his father, Howard, was 42 and his mother, Mary, was 26. He married Nancy Caroline George on September 9, 1925. They had nine children in 21 years. He died on December 4, 1989, in Newton, Arkansas, at the age of 85, and was buried there.
He was a front porch greeter
And if you stopped by
He'd come right out to meet you
With a smiling, friendly “hi”!

His doorbell was yappy Feists
Barking as you came in sight
But they wiggled,  tails awagging
And never tried to bite!

He brewed a little 'shine!
And gained that kind of fame
But mostly he just gardened
And hunted table game!

Held dances at his cabin
When he and Nancy were young
Someone played the fiddle
And many tunes were sung!

Joe was an old porch greeter
And when you said so long
He followed you a talking
And watched 'til you were gone!
