Our son-in-law is helping coach wrestling. He is being acknowledged here.
Our new pond is almost full. We are wondering if the muddiness will ever disappear? Larry put gravel on the road to it so we can travel there without getting stuck in rainy weather.
Read a new book this week. Blueprint is about dna and who we are. It was good but hard for a dummy to get. I got this--more of whether we are fat or skinny is genetics not nurture. The number was 70 per cent. As we age, dna makes more and more difference in who we are not less. Yes, we become more and more like our parents. Fifty percent genes are shared by siblings of the same parents. They grow up in about the same environment. Genetics make the difference...fifty percent different genes. Breast cancer is not affected that much by genetics. Schizophrenia is highly predicted by dna. It can be triggered by marijuana use. It said it was because of the high level of thc? in today's marijuana Not sure of those initials. So if one carries that propensity, don't use drugs. Better yet...don't use drugs. It was a very good book, but since I am not really smart a lot of it was over my head.

Windy Day
We had some limbs stuck high in an Ash tree from a previous high wind and they blew out of the tree. Larry said, "some good in everything". I think he is correct. If one will just look for the good, you can find a nugget.
Laura and Erin are back at work today. I am doing my usual. I have a book that is interesting to me. It is about someone's 8 great grandparents and on to grandparents and parents! What a neat idea for a story.
Hope you have a good day.

Pop's Puzzle Girl
We took Greta her birthday gifts. She is putting her puzzle together already. I thought she would like this one as it is round and very brightly colored.
Erin sent this picture this morning. Greta got r done!

Thankful
Erin spent yesterday making pies. She has pumpkin, apple, lemon and pecan! I am to bring dressing. Laura ham, rolls, and pumpkin roll. Rick Griffin is bringing the turkey. Janie will bring vegetables from her garden. I hope we have a wonderful meal and feel the love for each. Thankful today that the Lord loves the unlovable! Me!

Days Pass By
Yesterday was dreary. We spent the day inside. Glad to see the sun shining today. Not 50 yet but the temp is climbing.

Weekend Shopper
Penny likes to go shopping at Wal-Mart on Saturday and feel the wind in her hair. She says roll the windows down, Astrid
Greta played basketball in Hollister today. She is playing point guard here. One game she scored half her teams points. Well, she scored two points and her team had four! Go Greta! Drive to the basket. Love her Goblin blue!
Greta went to a birthday party after the game! She was the only one who made it completely to the top! Go Greta!
Sigrid Is Swimming Today
Sigrid is in the farthest lane. You can see she got a lead as she entered the water and she held it as she won her heat!

Thank You, Amy Patsy
My new Patsy sent us banana bread. We did not wait, Amy. I made us a little coffee and we enjoyed a piece right away. Thank you!
A Little Snow Fell
It snowed awhile today. After it finished, I took a picture of what fell. Not a lot but it is still November! Winter not even here yet.
Greg played Battleship with Greta this morning. Erin said Greta was cheating, but I am positive she was mistaken.

Looping Along
I finished another afghan from the tubs of yarn that Helen passed to me. They belonged to our niece who passed away. This one is double stranded. It is pretty large and soft. It goes to my Laura.

Laura's School Honors Veterans
Laura's school values Veterans on Veterans' Day. The stars represent loved ones who are no longer with us and the leaves living who have served. A loving tribute to help children understand that there are lots of stars! Laura made sure Dad and George Aday's names were placed on a star and Lane Aday's name is entered on a leaf to honor their service.

Governor's School
Ingrid's principal told Ingrid she is invited to attend Governor's School this summer. The School used to be at Hendrix but starting this year Arkansas Tech will be hosting it. This will be the 40th Governor's School. Here is a snip-it from the Tech website. Bill Clinton is the founder of this academic endeavor.
The Arkansas Governor’s School is a four-week summer residential program for gifted and talented students who are upcoming high school seniors and residents of the state of Arkansas. State funds provide tuition, room, board, and instructional materials for each student who attends the four-week program on the site of a residential college campus, leased by the State. The Arkansas Governor’s School is a non-credit program that seeks to create a unique experience for a select group of Arkansas’ best students—the potential leaders of the 21st century. Both inside and outside the classrooms, AGS provides highly motivated, creative students with an intellectual atmosphere impossible to sustain in ordinary academic settings. The excitement of intellectual and artistic pursuits and the expectation of significant conceptual gains permeate all aspects of the participants’ lives for the full four weeks.

Thankful
Logan (on left) and his brother and sister. I am thankful! He is so nice and does not smoke, drink, or any of those type things. He works really hard. Astrid took this the day of his grandmother's funeral. She passed last week.
Astrid will get a raise in January. The minimum wage bill passed.

Tulip Polar
This Tulip Polar is in our front yard. It is really shining orange this week.
The bark of a tulip poplar, when boiled in water, was used as a medicinal tea for treating typhoid and malaria. It was used as an alternative to quinine. The inner bark was useful in treating rheumatism and arthritis. This was also a common use of the bark of many trees within the magnolia family. The tea from the bark, when boiled down, is also useful as a cough syrup. The flowers of the tulip poplar have been used, when prepared, as an ointment for soothing skin and to aid in the healing of burns.
I don't know if you can see but over by the big Oak tree are two small orange red trees. They are Dogwoods. Dogwoods are really pretty in the fall.

Siggie Calls 911
A few weeks ago Laura was going to head up Crow Mt. to pick up Sig's friend Mattie and take them to swimming. We live at the foot of this steep mountain road. We try to be very careful when we turn on the hiway from Galla Creek Lane. Laura was turning up the road heading up the steep Crow Mountain road. She barely got turned on the road when a car came speeding down the hiway on her side of the road. The lady swerved to miss them and flipped her car. I think Laura said twice but at least once. They got pulled over and Laura turned to Sig and said, "you call 911. I'm going down there". Laura made her way to the lady in the car and Sig called and got help. She said that she stayed calm and was able to tell them where to come. The older lady was fine. Thank heavens. Other folks stopped to help and soon it was just not Sig and Laura. We were so proud of Siggie for staying cool and calm and making the call for help.
Helen is taking her fern outside and shaking it everyday. It may work in her house as she keeps the house really cool. When I tried to keep my fern is was a messy disaster. She says she has 3 so I hope it works. Mine last year were so pretty that Larry wanted me to bring them in, but I just couldn't try it again.Coach Tom Aspel posted this of the 2018 Golden Suns Cross Country Team. Astrid is the second girl on the left.

Art Appreciation
Erin has been putting up some good art work. I have a special appreciation for the artist.
Gilbert put the 70 year old glass door knobs from the old house doors on Fleta's new bath storage closet. Makes the very special.
Here is the big black gum in the back fence row. It is really glowing. I can see it from the back porch!
Helen's dishwasher quit. She bought it off the trader site for 25 dollars. So she went to her old source and found one for 40 dollars. She got a new microwave from the same source. Gilbert came today and installed it all. Brother and sister helping each other.

Dear Deer
I don't mind the deer hanging around in the Meadow so much since we are not gardening anymore. This guy is often seen in the pasture with the two horses.
