Broached

This week Laura sent me a photo as she rushed off to work.  She said “I’m wearing Grandma Powell’s broach”.  I thought of the verb “broached”.  It means to talk about something sensitive.  Well, the sensitive part was I could not remember anything about Momma’s broach.  She liked pins she could put on her clothes.  I never knew of her wearing a necklace.  I think something around her neck “bothered” her.  Things sitting around she gave away.  She said they bothered her just sitting there.  Well, it bothers me that  I’ve forgotten so many things.  I have no memory of the broach and now I’ve broached that sensitive  subject—“is my brain just melting away”?
