Who Me?

Well, Brenda Powell had this on facebook and I am wondering if she is talking about Fleta or Helen...as I am sure it's not Clayton, Patsy or me.

Elk in Boxley Valley

We went to Boxley Valley today to see the elk.  They were lounging in Boxley Valley.  Shooting one of these would be like shooting a cow as they acted very tame.

Cub Rolling To New Home

Larry bought this cub up in Washington County, seems like.  He rebuilt the carburetor.  It really ran good, but now he can look for another one to buy and he loves looking for them.  These are not expensive tractors as they are small, really just for gardening.  I am posting this video for Fleta as she loves to watch the videos.  Kenny is riding the tractor and loading it for his 82 year old dad.  Loyd's mom was Bessie Gregory.   Bess was the daughter of Samuel Albert, Sam the son of George Washington, George the son of Mary Gaddy.  Now I am the daughter of Hazel, the daughter of Huston, the son of Solan who is the son of George Ellis.  Loyd and I are each 4 generations from Samuel Gaddy, Geo. and Mary's father.  Fleta could tell you what cousin we are but I don't know.  Well, Flet, here is your video!

What We Are Up To

Larry sold a Cub today to this man--Loyd Freeman.  Larry really did not want to part with one, but Mr. Freeman is 82 and his wife died and he wants to make a garden like he used to.  Mr. Freeman's great great great great grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Gaddy, George Ellis' sister.  So we were some kind of cousins.   Larry sold him cultivators because you have to have them to plow a garden.
Larry used the disk on all the gardens the other day.
Cora treed a squirrel this afternoon down by the pond.  We did not shoot it as we hardly have any squirrels.
These two plants were given to me by old ladies when Larry went to their house to check out Cub tractors. The pansy looking flower I got a week ago up hiway 7 above Dover.

Fleta gave me this and it is mint I think I noticed it is holding on.
I am about to decide to just quit feeding my birds as you can see what has happened and I am not Warren Buffett.

Gas Measurement For Old Cub

I am so lazy.  Larry printed this measurement out, but in a few months we will not be able to find it and it is a piece of info that is helpful. This red Cub is a '57.  There is no gas gauge.  So you always wonder how much gas is in it.  So I am putting this here and we can search the blog for almost any of the words and find this chart.

Fleta, will you put Coach Fish's birthday on April 4...so I will not forget him. I promised myself that each year he is working I am going to take him a chocolate cake.  He is an old bachelor.

MEASUREMENTS ON A WOODEN STICK
FOR FINDING HOW MUCH GAS IS IN
A CUB TRACTOR

Put your marks at these distances

4 gallon = 4 5/16"

6 gallon = 6 1/4"
7 gallon = 7 1/2"

I was looking....

Finishing Strong

My girls are going to Nebraska tomorrow to visit their Great Grandmother Merle.  I will miss them until they are home again.

Fleta got me thinking about Boxley and Larry said we would go there one day this week. I hope we see the elk.

Working Outside

Larry and I both worked outside.   I dug up Jonquils along the fence and put them into this flower bed.  You can see that they were not blooming and maybe it was because they were too thick or the area was too shady.

This flower bed shows my Day Lilies--Forgotten Dreams--they are coming on good.
While I worked in the flowers, Larry rebuilt this Martin house for Sigrid.  Siggie's house is near trees and the Martins may not come, but I am sure some bird will.  And it is a pretty open area so she may have Martins this year.

When she came home from school she called him immediately when she saw her bird house.  I am sure she is pleased.  Larry decided it was 'cockeyed' and after I took these photos he went back over and worked on it some.  He said it looked better after his adjustment.  The house was green, but he went to Walmart and bought red paint for plastic and upgraded the outside.  This house was broken in two places but he fixed that with slim board and screws.  I think it looks good.
