Greta Grabs Another

Greta is a good angler!

Fourth

 Sigrid went to her friends for fireworks.

 Ingrid is with friends, too.

 Astrid and Logan are at his Mom's house!

 Not sure what Greta and Clayton are doing, but these are from last weekend.  Clayton really likes chess.  Greta really likes fishing.

Pop and I are alone and we can see the fireworks from our living room window.  I feel sorry for the dogs tonight.  All the boom boom hurts their ears.

The heat and air is finished in the Galla house.  Astrid, Laura and Logan are working away.  It is all looking great.  Astrid is a perfectionist.  Cabinet doors are coming off.  Kitchen cabinets are getting new stain.  Appliances are new.  It is great for the house and Astrid.  The Galla house was empty 9 years.  We are excited for laughter to fill the rooms again.

It is so hot...

I melted.

I can't do much with blogging as I am pretty miserable.  Just having to stay inside stay cool.

Lilies Blooming

 I have Tiger Lilies blooming and this cascading lily.   

It is really hot. 99 degrees now.  I helped Laura clean out from under the Galla house.  It had 30 years of junk under it.  Laura cut the insulation off the old vent piipes too.  We worked hard.  I noticed sweat was dripping off my nose.  We got a lot done.  Astrid worked on the cabinets.  She is staining them a darker shade.  They probably half of the rooms painted.  All the ceilings are painted.  They will probably get the air finished next week.  Larry told Astird--he could not wait 'til Thanksgiving dinner.  I don't know if she "got" it or not.

Greta is getting a palette widener...I guess it is called.  I think Erin said she would wear it a year.  When all the permanent teeth are in she will another set of braces.

I hope Melissa and Helen are having a great visit.  Fleta is getting another bathroom overhaul by Only Brother!

Splish Splash

Laura and her bunch went to SDC today.  She and Eric got new phones.  She sent this video of the girls.   It is so much better than the ones from her old phone!

Sister and her Grandson who is almost as tall as she is.  Same hair too!  Clayton is 10 today and he is taller than I am...I have shrunk some though!    I liked this picture is why I stole it.

Clayton is 10.  Hope he has a great double digit year!

He caught a catfish in Long Creek this week...maybe where his Grandpa Powell once went to catch his supper!

Greta Grumpy

Greta is still hurting from all the whittling in her mouth.  Hope she will feel better tomorrow.

The fellows here all wear overalls and boots and big cowboy hats and a pipe in their mouth.  They talk western.   Then she tells the person to let her friend Beau know that she has a fine feller picked out for her.  Grace sent the card to New Jersey--another world!

Ordeal Over

 Greta may not be able to roll her tongue now.  They cut loose her tongue.  She talked a lot before--now she will really be gabby! 

Glad it is over and hope it does not hurt long!

Summer Stole Spring

When winter was here
the weather was cold
I dreamed of sweet spring
soon to unfold
but winter held on
all cool and drear
as I waited joyfully
for spring to appear!

Suddenly summer's
dragon breath heat
roared out of the south
with sun fired feet
he opened his jaws
humid spewed forth
he swallowed up spring
and then spit it up north!

Greta Today

Greta is having surgery today to remove skin between her upper front two teeth.  It is not complicated but because it involves her mouth it will be painful.  Saying a little prayer for her today.  Braces will come soon, also. 

Greta is trying tennis at camp.  She loves it.  Greta loves all sports, I think!  And she is good at all she has tried.

The various structures in your mouth — your teeth and gums, of course, as well as periodontal tissues that hold teeth in place within the jaw — all function together to create your smile. This includes muscles like the frenum, a fold of muscle tissue that connects the gums to the upper lip, which helps pull the lip upward when you smile. Unfortunately, an overly large frenum could contribute to an unattractive space between your two upper front teeth. The problem occurs when the frenum grows beyond its normal range and runs between the front teeth to connect with the gums behind them at the forefront of the roof of your mouth. The resulting space that may develop can be closed with orthodontics, but unless the excess frenum tissue is addressed the space may eventually reopen.

 The frenum is just one cause among many for a noticeably wide space, including bite problems (malocclusions), finger-sucking habits or missing teeth. We would, therefore, need to examine your mouth to determine the exact cause before beginning any treatment. If indeed the frenum is the source of the problem, it will be necessary to ultimately remove the excess portion through a procedure known as a frenectomy.

 A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure performed by a periodontist, oral surgeon or a general dentist with surgical training. After numbing the area with local anesthesia, the tissue behind the teeth is dissected or reduced in size with a small scalpel or a surgical laser. The wound is then closed with a few stitches; any post-surgical discomfort is usually minimal and managed with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain medication. The wound will completely heal within a few weeks. Most frenectomies are performed after orthodontics to close the space. Removing it prior to tooth movement may result in scar tissue that prevents the space from closing. It’s also easier for the surgeon to gauge how much tissue to remove after space closure to avoid removing too much, which can leave a “black” triangular hole where gum tissue should normally be.

 Treating an abnormally large frenum isn’t difficult, but it needs to be coordinated with orthodontic treatment for the best outcome. The end result is a smile that’s both healthy and attractive. Big Weekend

 Erin and Greg and kids came for Pop's birthday and Father's Day.  The kids swam at Laura's and she made Pop two cakes--pineapple upside down and almond joy with white cake.  Both were heavenly.

 Greta had learned to dive a little at their pool.  Laura gave her a short lesson and she got it right away.

 Clayton got Swiss Army knife for his birthday and he made me a spear to keep by my bed to protect me from intruders.

 Greta filled my heart with birdseed.  I really love her gift and the birds do too.

 Greg and Erin had his birthday party at the pool.  They had a blast.  Huge pool and just about a dozen kids.

 Greg and Erin came in the RV.  On the way home Greta rested.

Sigrid is Swimming

 Sigrid is swimming tonight at Alma!  Pop and Laura are in attendance.  She has won her heat so far!  Hope she gets a lot more ribbons.  I spy a blanket in the background that Grandma Powell made for Laura and Erin to have as a pallet.
