Total Eclipse
Daisy
Saw my first Daisy when I walked to Pop’s pond yesterday. Ever wonder where the name Daisy came from? It is considered a corruption of "day's eye", because the whole head closes at night and opens in the morning. Geoffrey Chaucer called it "eye of the day". In Medieval times, the English Daisy was commonly known as "Mary's Rose". It is also known as bone flower. Lots more daisies to see this year. Today was a beginning not an end.
Daisies may be used as a potherb. Young leaves can be eaten raw in salads,or cooked. Flower buds and petals can be eaten raw in sandwiches, soups and salads. It is also used as a tea and as a vitamin supplement.

First Mowing
Last year I did not mow until April 12, I started today this year! Took almost 3 hours. Chickens ran around gobbling the cut grass!
Walking Alone
I don’t watch a lot of tv but I used to like Jeopardy! They’ve ruined it too! All they have tournaments and it’s the same people over and over. I’m not going to watch it anymore.Contestants are all reruns! Most of them I didn’t like the first time they were there!🤮🤮
Strange to walk without my Phinnie. He walked on 3 legs really well, but he had a brain tumor is what the Dr. thought. He was a great comfort. I think I won’t replace him. I’m too old to care for a pet properly,When I walked this morning there were diamonds dancing on the water. The two geese were still on lay over before continuing north.

Just Checking
Phinnie and I have been walking to Pop’s Pond each morning to see if the Wood Duck babies are on the water! None yet, but we saw 2 pretty geese who had stopped for a rest before going on north.

Wood Ducks
Larry wanted the wood ducks to raise at his pond. He built a wood duck house on the bank. He said it would be better in the water, but he was sick and weak by then and couldn’t build it in the water. Each year Astrid watches and wood ducks come, but this year is the first they have hatched a brood of babies. I hope to see them swimming around the pond soon. They don’t stay in the nest long and are left to take care of themselves when they leave the nest. A few ducks swimming will make the pond even lovelier.

Grandma Brain
Read about this in Good Housekeeping💗I know I have a Grandma Brain!
Grandma Brain is a not just a technical term, but there is a scientific explanation for what’s going on in our brain when we’re with our grandchildren. Neurological research has shown that something unique happens to a grandma’s brain when she sees her grandchildren — and it may explain our intense devotion and delight. A professor at Emory University scanned the brains of 50 grandmothers while showing them photos of their grandchildren. (The study didn’t include grandfathers.) What he discovered was brain activity that, at least in part, explains the intense grandmaternal bond. The study suggests that grandmothers are geared towards feeling what their grandchildren are feeling when they interact with them. If their grandchild is smiling, they’re feeling the child’s joy. And if their grandchild is crying, they’re feeling the child’s pain and distress.
Eclipse Ready
Got my glasses and am ready for a week from today. Filled up with gas. Got lots to eat. They say phones and internet may be overloaded and crash.
