One more thought--if you say no, mean it. Don't say NO and then go back and do whatever it was that you said no to. Then NO means maybe or even worse NO means yes. When teaching I could always tell when kids parents could not say NO. The child would beg after you said NO.
One more thought--don't say you are going to perhaps not let them go to the play gound because ....and then take them. Soon, any smart kid will learn that you don't tell the truth.

The other thing that drives me crazy is a parent says I am going to count to 3....that drives me crazy...the kid waits till 2 to even move!
