Isaw these two when I took my walk. They try to freeze and think it keeps me from seeing them.
Astrid has chicks in this brooder. A hawk lands on top wanting to get the chicks. I let my chickens out each day. A coyote or fox caught one in broad daylight. Now I only have 7 chickens. Astrid is going to gift me 5 pullets.
It could have been a hawk that got your chicken. One time Cliff and I actually saw a hawk swoop down and grab my rooster, but he could only get him about 3 feet off the ground and dropped him. He should have picked out a smaller chicken.

My chickens are too heavy to have been picked up by a hawk I think, but it might have been if he pinned it to the ground.
Nasty Hawk...poor chicken:(
