New

 I ordered a new IPad.  Everything is NEW.  I’m having to learn how to use a new format.  When one ages change gets harder.

I don’t have picture.  Hopefully, I’ll learn to navigate the new system and my pictures will finally sync.

On a cheerier note.  Today I have been actively killing—fire ants.  It says it’ll kill the Queen.  We will see.  I’m hopeful.  If you don’t have fire ants where you live—be thankful.  

Kitty Wells

Astrid named her new lady Kitty Wells!  So on my stroll I’m saying, “here, Kitty, here, Kitty”!  She loved the carrots but would not take them out of my hand.  She did let me touch her nose👃Got carrots on my grocery list again🫏  Big thanks to blogger Connie for suggesting carrots!

 

Green Forest Prom

Sister Fleta’s  granddaughter went to prom last night.  Prom lasts really late.  A grandmother is too old to have a young girl to guide, but Sister is doing her best attempt.  Hannah is 17 and is now such a blessing.  She is a tiny little thing.  God bless the youngsters growing up today.  I think they have too many choices to make.  I’m glad I did not have to grow up in such a complicated society. 

 

Sisterville

 I came to Green Forest Saturday.  Sisters and I hosted the genealogy workshop.  I’ll head home later today.  I woke up at 4 and can’t get back to sleep.  That’s the problem with me going anywhere for me.

There was fog yesterday coming up 7.  It’s raining now.  I’ll wait awhile to head home and hopefully the fog will lift.

Comedy Show

My cousin Susie sent Laura flowers today at school.  I received flowers twice in 39 years at school.  It really makes you feel appreciated. Once Larry sent me roses.  It wasn’t for any occasion.  Another time his mother sent mea prayer plant.  I still remember both with fondness.

Sigrid, Ingrid, and Laura are attending a show tonight in Little Rock. A women comedian is presenting.  The tickets weren’t cheap so I hope it’s funny.  It’s nice for the three to do something together.

 

Birds

I love seeing new birds that don't usually visit.  The Grosbeak and Oriole are here.  Blue birds are enjoying the bath when the temp gets to 80 degrees.

I'm having to carry my suet feeder in at night.  I try to get it when I go look the chicken coop.  I guess a coon has found me.  With no Phinnie to help, I am at his mercy.  Also, the crows are jumping and knocking the suet to the ground and then eating it.  I think, well, at least they are birds.  

I'm having deer come to the back of my yard each evening.  I won't put pictures of them, but I enjoy seeing them come by.  One has a pretty yearling is thin.  Soon they will have more to eat.

 

Drenched

My last Iris has finally bloomed.  It’s a peach color and the only one I have of this color.  I’m not adding flowers to my yard even though I love them.  I mow so much that I can’t take care of flower beds.  I do plan to have some in pots.

It rained most of the day.  This morning it was just sprinkling so I put on my hat and a hoodie. I’d walked a mile when it started to rain harder. Glad the cap bill kept the rain out of my face.  It started lightening too, but all I could do was just walk on toward the house.  I am thankful I did not get struck by lightening.  I had to remove all my clothes when I got to my porch.  I wore pajamas most of the rest of the day as the rain continued.  I finished push mowing my lane yesterday.  The side of the lane is puddles now, but it dries up pretty fast.  It was cold today too.  Tomorrow warmer and more storms.
 

Daisy

 This morning my meadow was filled with patches of daisies.   Daisy comes from Old English Day’s Eye. Many open at dawn and close at dusk.  In Latin Daisy means sun’s eye.  

Sigrid had to deliver a speech about one of the senior Zeta’s.  She spoke about Anna Claire.  She’s 4th from left on back row!  Sig doesn’t mind speaking in front of an audience.  What an asset.

I am not a good driver and when I saw this I thought it depicted me very well.  When someone honks their horn at me I want to apologize!

Sister Helen made Ada an apron.  She’d made aprons for my girls and all our girls before but Ada wasn’t even a thought then.

Susie Q

My cousin Susie drove down today with Sisters Fleta and Helen.  We had a great visit, but it passed too quickly!  Susie’s friend Lamoine was a bonus friend.  Laura served a delicious lunch!  Dessert was Laura’s cheese cake with lemon curd!  I’m amazed at how my Laura really looks like Susie!  DNA revealed.

Cheese Cake

My cousin and her friend may come today.  Sister Fleta and Helen are coming to show the way.  The reason I say MAY is we only communicate through FB and she doesn’t use messenger.  Laura took the day off and is preparing lunch.  It’s simple baked potatoes and salad with cheese cake for dessert.  She has strawberries or lemon curd to top the cheese cake.  I hope they do come.  Anticipation!  

It’s supposed to be 75 here today and sunny.  Beautiful day.  Laura and I will walk at Lake Dardanelle this morning.  

I mowed my lane yesterday.  Part with the push mower and some with the rider.  Some of it is still too wet.  May is almost here and I will soon be spraying to kill the weeds.  Lots of work and only one me.
 

Astrid is First

Ada is looking like such a big girl in her pictures.  Time whirling by.

Raise the Barn Run🐴 My kids are winners whether they place or not!  Wow, Astrid was first female in the 5k!  Totally awesome. Logan was 3rd in his age group 10K.

 

Zeta Dance

Sigrid had to attend a dress party with Zeta.  These dress up things are more of a chore now.  Fun has worn off a bit.  They were to wear black or gold!  Sigrid and her friend Lane chose black.

I framed Ingrid’s Baptist Health graduation photo.  I’ll be getting a ATU one too!  Then in June another— this one is wedding.  I know she’ll be glad when all the tests and classes are complete.  Almost there.  She has a big test to pass in June!  

 

My New Neighbor

Astrid and Logan have a brown donkey now.  Her name is Maria.  Astrid may rename her.  She won’t come to the fence yet for me to pet her.  

When I walk to the pond, I usually sit awhile in the swing. As I was sitting there,I spied gold fish.  Pop put 3 in the pond and they are still there.  If you look closely, you’ll see a little orange in the pond pictures—gold fish.

 

Mowing Again

Greta finished another sports’ season.  This one was track.  She liked it too.  She got to go with the Junior High to the conference meet at Greenwood. She may have placed 7th.  I think her best throw was 32 feet.

Astrid is OCD.  She has obsessive  chicken disorder.

I mowed again yesterday.  Week and a half between mowings. I mowed weeds.  It took 3 hours.

I had a little dove in my flat feeder.  I have them on the ground eating what falls, but usually they don’t getup to the feeder.  I had a feral cat eating my suet.  I tapped him and rehomed him.
 

Irises Blooming

I have three irises blooming. Yellow ones are my favorite ones but I have none.  I put old tractor tires around these to keep from weed eating them down.  

Got a perm yesterday and I don’t think my hair is fried.  

Time to mow again.  I’m just mowing  weeds.  It’ll be a three hour job.  

 

Pretty Roses

Astrid has lived in my house on Galla Creek Lane since 2018.  She planted roses.  Her thumb is green for sure because they are blooming all around the house.

I’m getting a perm today.  I hope I look better.  I have really bad hair.  Now I have two bald spots on top of ugly hair.  I’m not planning to find a new companion which is good as I’d have trouble attracting one.

I mowed both sides of my lane this week with the push mower.  So glad Greg fixed it.  It’s a 1/6 of a mile and I have to push down and back several times.  By weekend I’ll mow my yard area again.  It’s still mostly weeds.

 

Moving On Up

She is counting it down!  I am so proud of her! 💚💛 Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist and she has accepted a job at Central Arkansas Heart Center for Dr. Thomas.

Don’t guess we can call her Beanie now!
