Flying flower I saw this week. This is an eastern tiger swallowtail. It is the state butterfly of Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, and is the state insect of Virginia. That’s thistle it’s resting on. I don’t like thistle but I know many birds do and I guess butterflies, too.

A thistle popped up in my rockscape. I'm letting it grow till it blooms so I can take a picture of it. Then I'll dig it up. :)
