I used to love seeing this postcard column in the Little Rock paper. Usually one each week was published. This is the Deer, AR post office. Irene Cooper was the post mistress in 1940. Russell Cooper added a barber chair and you could get a shave and haircut when you went for your mail. Deer still has a post office, but you can’t get a haircut there.

When I was little, oh so long ago! The Post Office was in the General Store and the Telephone Office was there too with an old cranky woman at the switchboard.
