Smile

I walked here in my own garden of Eden yesterday.  The sky was deep blue and the water glistened with diamonds.  I am going to search for things to smile about today.  People are actually better-looking when they smile. When you smile, people treat you differently. You’re viewed as attractive, reliable, relaxed, and sincere. A study in the journal Neuropsychologia reported that seeing an attractive, smiling face activates your orbitofrontal cortex, the region in your brain that processes sensory rewards. This suggests that when you view a person smiling, you actually feel rewarded.   So, try to smile on this Valentine’s ♥️ Day.  You’ll feel better for it and the world around you will, also. 😌

Over The Counter Dog Meds

I thought this was interesting.  You can use human over the counter medicines for your dog.  I knew about Benadryl.   We have used it when a dog was bitten by a poison snake.  Now, I notice is Benadryl spelled incorrectly in this posting?  Why?

My feet have been so cold.  I wear socks in the house, but I notice if I put shoes on my feet warm up.  I ordered a foot warmer from Amazon.  It feels really great at night.  It’s like a pillow case that’s heated.  It has different settings and goes off in an hour.  This all makes me think my leg circulation is getting worse.

Tomorrow I go to the dreaded CPA appointment.  I bet I owe taxes this year, but I am so thankful that I have funds in my old age.  So many of the elderly struggle to make ends meet.  I earned my rest.  Forty years of teaching wasn’t easy.  Many times I wished I could quit, but now I am happy I trudged forward.

The sun is shining today.  Spring is around the corner.  My life is good.  I need to focus on this day.  Now. Hope your day is filled with good things.

Wordle Saves a Life

I love puzzles.  Well, word puzzles, not sudoku, so much , as it’s numbers.   I do the Courier cryptogram, play words with friends, do crosswords, and even jigsaws.  My newest word puzzle is called Wordle.  A smart guy invented it because his girlfriend likes word puzzles.  It’s simple squares of five.  No hints.  You write in a word.  If one of your letters is in the word of the day the letter turns yellow.  If it’s in the puzzle and in the correct location, the square turns green.  You have five more chances to fill in the squares correctly.  If you want to play, search for New York Times Wordle.  There’s one puzzle a day.  That’s all.  After you solve, you have to wait til next day to play again.

Well, the puzzle saved an 80 year old lady’s life.  She and her daughter texted each other daily with their results.  One day she was silent.  Her daughter texted her Mom asking to see her Wordle.  No answer.  A naked man armed with scissors had locked the elderly lady in her own basement.  Finally the daughter starts calling.  No answers.  Daughter then called the police and asked for a welfare check.  Mom was rescued and naked man was arrested.   Wordle saved the day.♥️♥️

Try Wordle.  It works the brainπŸ‘πŸ‘

Sigrid’s a Swimmer

This picture of Sigrid starting a race was at the RHS athletic site.  She swims the 500 meter freestyle for one.  That’s a long swim.  She placed.  Proud of her endurance.
Harrison kids got their Valentines from Auntie Laura and me.  Ada was really excited. Clayton was not so much. 🀣🀣

Wordle today.  One has to go to New York Times now to play.  No, I am not a genius and didn’t get it in one try.  It took four tries again, but the old url is no more.  So when I checked the new one I’d already completed the puzzle, so I wrote the answer in.  I bet it’s the only one I ever get with one attempt.  A pop up came up saying that I am a genius.  I thought, “no, cheater”.  πŸ€£πŸ€£

Basketball

Fleta and I both watched basketball last evening.  Both our teams won.  Hannah is on the Green Forest Junior High team.  They beat Elkins in the District Tourney.  They plan in the finals Saturday.

Tech pulled out a close one with Oklahoma Baptist.  I enjoy basketball.  Sunday, Eric is cooking steaks for the Super Bowl game.  I was for the Chiefs so I don’t have a team in the fight but steak is my favorite meal.  We’re having baked potatoes and salad too.  Lemon cheesecake for dessert.  That will be the big winner.

Today In My Chair

As I sit and do nothing again today, the word puzzle is completed.  Why doesn’t it make me feel I have accomplished something.  I’m feeling pretty useless.

Well, fiddle, it took me longer to solve the word today.  Guess I should just pause and be thankful that I finally figured it out.  At least I’m staving off forgetfulness.  But what I’d like to forget comes to mind and a name I am trying to remember escapes me.

Basketball

The Arkansas Razorbacks beat number one Georgia last night in over time.  Everyone wore white.  Maybe Auburn was blinded by our light.  The fans rushed the court after the game.  Musselman calls the fans his 6th man.  Last night they were in the starting lineup.

I have been playing this word game.  Today’s word was humor.  I am not the brightest star so it took me awhile to figure out what the game was about, but I did and I’m playing it daily.  There is only one game each day.  I work on it with my morning coffee.  So far I’ve gotten each word.

It took me a while to even locate the game.  At the App Store there are copies that aren’t nearly as great as the simple one.  The creator sold the game to the New York Times so I guess it will not always be free.  I’ll just enjoy it now.

RHS swim team won conference.  Sigrid is beaming.

Make Over

Pop had a dog kennel.  He kept it full of Feist dogs.  Astrid and Logan are turning the kennel into a chicken house and storage for feed and supplies.  It would be fine with Pop.  He’d want life in his kennel.  When Pop had puppies the girl’s came up and held them.  He say my pups need socializing and ask them to come to play with the puppies.  I think Pop needed the social activity.  Larry was a great grandfather.  He took the girls hunting, fishing, taught them to drive.  They built things in his wood working shop.  He’d take them to playgrounds and watch them play.  He’d make a big deal out of it.  He’d drive to Morrilton or Dover to their playgrounds.  He took them to Waffle House for breakfast. He took them to church.  Larry loved being a grandfather.  I think that was his purpose.  His grandparents loved him.  He’d learned from Ada and Finis about what his role was—to love.
