Mr. Powell raised poultry and was an avid Coon Hunter.
On December 25, 1959, he was united in marriage with Barbara (Trantham) Powell who survives him of the home. He is also survived by three daughters; Brenda Powell and Cheryl and husband Tim Howard, both of Green Forest, AR, and Carolyn and husband Jason Williams of Berryville; one son, Richard Gary Powell and wife Ruthie of Green Forest, AR, four sisters; Patsy Poor and Fleta Aday, both of Green Forest, AR, Betty Renfroe of Pottsville, AR, and Helen See of Gilbert, AZ; two brothers; Clayton Powell of Green Forest, AR and Gilbert Powell of Omaha, AR; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Hazel Powell, and one sister, Debraha Lee Powell.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel with Reverend Jerry Spurlock officiating. Interment will follow at Alpena Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
