Galla Creek House

I walked over to the Galla Creek house.  I have the best renters!
Astrid's flower bed around the tree was still full of blooms.
I love the sign Astrid has for her raised beds.
The old side walk had to be dug up to put in the new water line.  Astrid got Logan to borrow a special piece of equipment so she could piece the side walk together again.  She wanted to piece where Pop had written Renfroe to be in place and it is.  It looked great.
I always hated this part of the yard with all these rocks.  You almost have to weed eat it.  We usually let it grow up as we tired of the hard work.  It looks great too.
Phinnie and I walked on to Galla Pond.  It always makes me think of Pop and how he wanted the wood duck that built a nest and wanted to bream fish.

Ada Today

Ada has found a car and she is riding along the hi way.

Three Hombres

My cousin had this photo of her brothers on FB.  The youngest is wearing the light colored shirt.  He is the baby and is 77, I do believe.  I love seeing them.

Memorial Day in the Mountains

Erin and Greg took the kids to Falling Water and Richland Memorial Day.  Looked like lots of people were at the Falls.

Greta Cuts her Dad’s Hair

Greta Ann cut her Dad’s hair and Erin said it looked just fine.  Grandpa Renfroe used to cut hair in the mountains.  Folks would come by and want him to cut their hair.  He’d pull a chair out in the yard and snip away.  Larry’s Mom had a talent for cutting hair before she became a beautician.  She cut Larry’s hair until she passed then Laura started cutting her Dad’s hair.  Greta is starting young.   I know her Dad is glad to have his own stylist!

Visiting Mary

Here Mary is telling us that this old house is a weaning house.  First house a young couple lived in after marriage and on the property of one of the parents.  Gladys Humphrey and her husband Lewis Yeager lived here.  It was on her parents farm.  Gladys' father was Joe Humphrey who was Granny Renfroe's uncle.

Words are easy, like the wind; Faithful friends are hard to find.  William Shakespeare

Laura took me to see another old friend, Mary, today.  I think our friendship goes back to 1975, that’d be 45 years.  I looked back to see and it’s been 6 years since I was there last.  She lives at the top of the world—Treat, Arkansas, near Piney Creek.  I always enjoy visiting there and usually come home with flowers.  Today, it was Foxglove.  I’ll plant it in a shady spot as Mary’s entire yard is shady.  I’m hoping I don’t wait 6 years to go again as Mary will be 98 then!

The stream is called Piney Creek.  This is located quite a bit down the mountain from Mary's place.  Kayakers use it when it is high enough.
Mary leaves all the old structures.  See the logs?
Joe Humphrey's old house and barn.  Still Standing he died in 1944.

Here we are going to take a look at Mary's chickens as she knows I love chickens.  Mary's are pets.  You can just pick them up.
This was my last visit to Mary's 6 years ago.  I look a lot younger.  Mary looks just the same.  My friend Kay and I went up together to see her in 2014.  Her husband had been gone a year.  Yesterday she said it had been 7 years.  Her son has built her a bedroom and bath downstairs as before she slept upstairs and if she needed to go to the bathroom in the night she had to go down the stairs.  Her little bedroom and bath is where she once had a screened in porch.

Wishing for Dad

Sisters took flowers to sister Patsy’s sons grave.  I think he was 57 when he passed. His wife died even younger.  They were both wonderful people.  I sent a picture to his daughter.  She said she wished he were here because he made everything better.

I bought a new car today.  I traded in Larry’s Tundra Toyota.  This is a Rav 4..  it’s made for driving off road,    Just means it sits up higher.  It’s 4 wheel drive.  I hope I like it.  Larry’s truck was just too big for me to drive.

My renter is still redoing the cabinets in my house.  She said she’s almost finished.

Helen’s Visitor Today

Helen had this black snake in her living room today.  She said it was too much even for her.  She killed it.  Helen has never been scared of snakes that much. I can’t stand any.  I recall when we were kids walking down the road to get the mail, Helen caught a green snake and carried it along with us.  I was frightened even of it.

I would buy those snake granules And spread them all around.  I’d be afraid to go to bed tonight.  Well, I’ll probably even be afraid here.  Maybe Gilbert can work on her storm door.

Notes to lift

Clayton leaves notes to be found later.  He is a very loving boy.
Laura painted her door navy.  It had been red for 18 years.  Ingrid is having trouble getting used to the new look.

Flowers in Old Water Bucket

Laura picked up a Shepard’s hook at Walmart for me.  I put the flowers in a bucket I had and hung them by my porch so I can see them from my roost.
Got a new photo of Ingrid but the dark frame didn’t go well.  Laura Found me a better one at TJ Maxx. I’ll take a picture and add it.

Birds were Cold Today

I bought chicken and bird feed yesterday.  Total 48.00 and some change.  I think the eggs I get are about a dollar each.  Since Larry passed, I can not eat eggs.  He like them almost each morning and now seems if I think egg I feel sick.  Maybe someday I can enjoy a scrambled egg again.  Yesterday, I remember Sister Patsy said boil them and feed them back to the chickens so I did.  My friend Mary said I needed to roast the egg shells before I feed them to the chickens.  I have always saved them but never toasted them.

The little Finch was really chilled Patsy said to watch and if they keep their feathers fluffed out they are cold.

The hawk may  have been eyeing some of my pretty birds.
