March Blooms

This morning when I walked the Redbuds were looking purple and pretty!  I spied little hyacinth blooms and still have jonquils.  Robins were everywhere looking for worms in the wet soil!  God is good was my thought as I ambled along.

The Eastern Redbud is a native Arkansas tree.  It’s known as the Judas tree. According to legend, the redbud tree was once a strong tree that had beautiful white flowers. Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, which set in motion his murder on the cross which set in motion salvation for all humankind. Once he realized what he did, Judas committed suicide by hanging himself on a redbud tree. His red blood dyed the white flowers pink and the tree transformed into a small specimen incapable of supporting a human body forever after.
