Back to the Books

 

My two precious girls are back hitting the books today.  So proud of their faithfulness.  Ingrid’s first year and Astrid’s third, but Ingie had almost a year of credits when she started.  She’s at least a sophomore.  Astrid’s classes are all nursing this semester.  AR Tech is the number one college in AR for nursing.  Best of the best.  Ingie still is looking at her options for a major.  Both made the Dean’s List.  Proud Granny.

And beautiful Sigrid.  Siggie was chosen sophomore representative for Colors Day at her High School.  I suppose the student body chooses.  Each grade has 3 representatives.  She’ll be beautiful and a good representative. 

 

Didn’t Make 50

 

Today would have been 50 years for Larry and I.  Just anniversary, no not Happy Anniversary.   Laura gave me a little red bird.  The Cardinals come to my feeders daily, sometimes dozens at a time.  They are said to be passed loved ones visiting.  It’s a comforting thought, true or not.  I like the picture of the red bird, but I didn’t take it.

Ada has learned to stand up in her chair.  She is going to be a daring child I do believe.

 John’s new song

John Fogerty has a new song.  He has not written a new song in 8 years.  John was upset when Trump used his song in his rallies.  John was drafted and sent to Vietnam.  Trump had a bone spur in his foot and his father got him a home seat.  Fortunate son is about all the poor boys who went and the rich ones who skipped their duty.  It’s a great song.   I grew up in the 1960’s and I’ve always liked his songs. Proud Mary, Fortunate Son and Bad Moon Rising are ones I really like.  I appreciate this one too.

Pond Runneth Over

Phinnie and I walked to the pond in the warm sunshine.  It was running over and so pretty.  Maybe the sun will be out again tomorrow.  I’m hopeful.

Every day will be a little longer now.  I’m hopeful 

Maybe before summer we can get our shots if we’re in group 1 or 2.  I’m hopeful.

Soon we will have a new President.  The old is history.  I’m hopeful.

Red Headed Stranger

I think this may be the oldest picture ofSister Fleta.  It’s July 1948.  She was 6 months old.  I checked the weather for January 1948 and it was similar to today.  Highs were in the low 50’s and lows were low 30’s.  

Fleta is 73 today.  Patsy wrote of her birth in 2013.  Patsy was 74 when she wrote this.  Happy Birthday, Fleta.  Bible verse for you is Philippians 1: 3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.  

Red Haired Stranger

Tomorrow marks a big day in my life in 1948.   Until that day I had been the only girl child in our family on that day mama gave birth to a red haired stranger.  We named her Fleta and I went around telling everyone, now I have a sister to play with.

I didn't realize that by the time she was old enough to play I would be too old to play.  Little did I know she was just the first of a streak of girls none of which would be my playmates but they played together and squalling for me to hold them.   Yes, they did. 

By the time Fleta was 6 months old I couldn't leave the room with out her crying. I thought this was great for a while and then realized that this squalling kid curtailed my freedom.
The summer when she was one and a half I had started reading everything I could find to read. One day I carried her and my book out the road  and put her down to play or eat dirt it was her choice to make while I read my book when I next noticed the red head she was eating toad stools. I didn't know if they were poison or not but decided I would wait to see if she got sick before telling daddy . She didn't get sick so I decided no harm was done so why tell daddy and get him all upset.

Fleta wasn't any thing like me, I run to fat and she is skinny. I don't know why but she has always acted like eating was a chore while I love to eat actually Fleta is the only person in our family that doesn't run to fat.

Fleta has a very sharp tongue while I am very sweet person.  Happy Birthday from Patsy.

I Believe

 From Proverbs....

The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.

One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless.

I see over and over that Christians seem to think that because they believe and serve the Lord, He will always protect them from evil--mainly the virus.  This is not within the teaching of the Word.  Over and over, the Bible tell us to protect ourselves and it also tells us if we believe the Lord will protect us in front of another--we are putting ourselves above others.  He wants us to be humble.  Yes, He may chose to protect me, but the the moment I start thinking I am more important because of my belief I will likely crash.  I am to be humble, not proud; below, not above; grateful, not haughty.  I ask you to take out your Bible and read.  Pray for knowledge, understanding and wisdom.  

Even Jesus who could call down angels to protect himself did not.  I will say---don't tempt the Lord thy God by saying you are more important than others.   Instead pray for mercy and pray for all.  By being little you will be big.    By showing weakness, he'll make you strong.   Show your love for all--wear your mask, distance yourself when possible; pray for others, not just yourself.  Read about Job.

New Shoes

 Greta got new shoes.  Old ones too short.  She has a skinny foot like Aunt Laura and her Mema.   Shoes don’t always fit right. Greta has the prettiest green eyes and the kindest heart.  

Sunshine—My Help

Last evening I watched the sunset with hope of the sun shining today.  Sunshine is a simple thing that lifts my spirits.  I don’t need a bottle of wine...just a little sunshine and I’ll feel fine!   

My Bible is the King James.  Common Phrases we use are found in the King James Bible.   One of these is “tender mercies”.  I like the sound of that.  Mercy alone has a ring of harshness and undeserving but tender mercy is circled with love.  I want tender mercy.  A lot of these things we say all the time 'apple of my eye', ' skin of your teeth' are in the Bible. 

King James had the Bible translated 400 years ago. That Version is still my favorite! 40 odd men broke the Bible into sections and worked on their part and then came together for agreement. King James wanted a new Bible because the marginal notes in the one used in that time was unfavorable to Kings. He also felt the English people would accept him if he endorsed a new version. The leaders of the various churches were clamoring for a new translation. Wouldn't it be great to be able to read Greek and read that old Translation!
