On Veterans’ Day, we honor those who served our nation. My father, my Grandfather Gaddy, Glen Garrison, Cecil Garrison, Uncle Walter Renfroe, Grandpa James K. Polk Standridge, Roger Eugene Garrison, George Aday, Steven Aday—the list goes on and on. They sacrificed, but some gave all. Robert Lee Aday was my age. At eighteen he joined the United States Army—just out of High School. One year later he was dead in the jungles of Vietnam. I salute his life and ultimate sacrifice today. He gave all.
Robert Lee Aday, 30 March 1950 - 24 October 1969, in Tay Ninh, South Vietnam, hostile, ground causality, SP4, Regular Army, 25th Infantry Division. He was riding on a tank, with his head out the top of the tank and was shot through the head. He died instantly. He had been in the Army less than a year. He was in C Troop. His brother, George, was in the same Unit. George served 3 tours in Vietnam. In 1969, he was in Vietnam serving in a unit with his brother, Robert Lee Aday, when Robert was killed. He was sent back to the States immediately and was the one to notify the family of Robert's death.
