Clogged Computer Post

I have been too lazy to turn on the computer to post anything.  But today I took the time so this post is sort of a hodge podge of stuff that I want to save as memories.  The purpose of my blog is to log our little circle of family's time on this earth.   Who knows someone's time by end today or tomorrow or we may be around for 20 more years.  All we have for certain is today.  I rejoice in today.  I don't pick up my little Ingrid Elizabeth today...should I eat the m and m's I bought for her?  Or should I save them for tomorrow.  We may not have tomorrow!

Laura thought this book would be good so I ordered it from Amazon.  I don't buy a lot for myself and I love to read.  It is a story of a country girl older than Sister Patsy and how she grew up in the hills of North Carolina.  I will pass it to Laura and then Fleta if she wants to read it.

 Clayton wrote this for class.  I like the part where he says he has a big fat brain.  If we don't use our brain, Clayton, does it get full of fat?  Erin ask him for me....   Most kids you might tell them something and they would think about it.  Clayton is so smart he knows, but shall we say he is a little lazy about stuff he's not interested in.  He hates writing.  I guess his fingers get tired working with that big fat brain of his.  I do like to read about what he is thinking.

 Larry has made me a shelf for my kitchen wall out of cedar.  He is not finished will have to put finish coat on and he said he will put four hooks on it.  I am going to put it on the wall by the coffee pot.  I have the Bunn sitting on a oak table he made me over 25 years ago.  I am already loving my shelf and I think I will put my 5 grands on it. The frames are all different and Larry will think they should match.  He is orderly like that, but I think what will make it neat is the 5 different frames.  I am unorderly like that.

 This was my breakfast yesterday.  Laura made cinnamon rolls for the entire High School basketball team.  Pop and I got one for our coffee.  It was delicious.

 Larry has finished two more puzzles.  He has the last Farmall one going.  He works them in the evening time.  Astrid and her family came for the Super Bowl (remember they do not have t v).  She sat and finished the top one while she was here.  He lacked about a fourth of it.  Laura and the girls just stayed for a part of the Bowl but Laura knew after Astrid started working on the puzzle there would be "no leaving" until she finished it which she did.  I told Pop "that girl is a little like you".

 I made the no bake cookies for the Bowl fest.  Sigrid made the fruit plate.  it is on a cookie!

 Laura made pecan sandies--home made.  When she went home, I told her to please take them.  They were just what I love with my coffee and I did not need them!

 Laura made these and they were a little hot as everything hot or spicy makes me sick, but I was able to eat one and not get sick.  They were the best.  It is a pepper with cheese and bacon wrapped around it and then baked.

 Eric told me to make corn bread and I did.

 Eric made 3 racks of ribs.  He cooks them in the oven on 250 degrees for 4 hours or so.  They were the best.  The second half of the Bowl game was good too.  I am glad I watched it.  The first part was nondescript.  The second half made up for the first.  I did not watch Lady Ga Ga, but Larry sure griped about that part.

 Two mornings ago I thought a foreign government might be attacking us, but it was only black birds.  The noise was deafening.  I took these pictures but most of them had scattered.  There were 1000s of them.   They were migrating I am sure.  Glad they did not stick around as my bird feeders could not support this many birds.  The secret of having pretty birds is making the feed and seed a work to get out of the feeder.  The lazy birds will fly on and you will be left with the pretty ones.  Sort of like that in our world, if something is not easy, most humans just give up.  The Bible says to wait and labor for our Lord and our reward will come.

Beautiful Sunny Day

 I spied my first Jonquil today.  I always love to see them as warm weather is coming soon.  Below Clayton has new shoes--size 7 men's.  I told Erin he had a firm foundation.

 Ingrid was honored at the last home game.  Astrid escorted her along with Laura as Eric had to be at his pupil conferences.

 Astrid went to a lazer tag party with her friends.  It sure looks like fun.  Bet Clayton would love this.

 Astrid bought these from her boss at the dress shop that is closing.  Bethany had necklaces hanging on the antlers.  Pop put it on a board for Astrid.  She will use it in her room.

 Pop made Astrid 3 triangular shelves.  This one is out of pallet wood.  It is really pretty.  Hard to believe it was an old pallet.

Big Fish

Jonell's husband caught this fish last week!  Wow, Jonell thought it weighed 58 pounds.  That may not be right, but it surely weighed a bunch.  Frances Sue came to Erin's office for a Medicare check up.  Anyway, Erin said "Momma, she is so sweet".  I said "just like her sister".  

Clayton and Greta

 Clayton and Greta attended their cousins' birthday party.  He is about Greta's age.  I really thought the cake looked neat.  They are going to an indoor swimming place for his event.  Erin said--sure hope they don't expect me to go too!"  Just like her Momma!

More Colors Day Photos

This is Astrid and Eric M.  She choose him as her escort.  The girls were to pick a boy out of the basketball group to escort them at the pep rally.  Eric films the games.  He was sort of surprised that Astrid chose him, but she is such a sweet person.  I was not surprised at all.  Some of the girls got in a fuss over who got escorted by whom.  Astrid said she was really glad she chose Eric as she was out of that fuss.  He looks like such a nice young man.  

When they announced Astrid's name there was a lot of cheering!  Made me feel good for her!

At the night time event, Astrid was escorted by another, Eric, her Dad.  They look so nice together.

The red pants suit had a different top.  Astrid decided it was too snug and picked a different shirt from her closet to wear.

 Was not sure if I had saved this group photo.  Ingrid may not try out for Dance in HS.  There is a lot of drama that goes on.  She may have tired of it.  She is a great dancer so if she does not do it next year I will be a little sad, but she will do what she wants and that is ok!

Last Pep Rally

 Ingrid's dance group performed yesterday and last evening for the last time this year.

Astrid will be all dressed up today for the Color's Day or whatever they call it.  Here she is when she was about 4 riding her horse, Trigger.  Also, she had made a tent on the bed.

I am anxious to see her today.  I know she will be beautiful just like in the photo above.

iPad post

I am going to post from the iPad again.   So my fat fingers will have some typos which I can not see until they are posted!  Fat fingers and poor eyesight are not assets with the small device.

My leg is better.  I will continue my aspirin regiment and try to walk a lot.  Richard Nixon and I have something in common.

Sigrid has an orthodontist appointment and we are going to have lunch together today.   Astrid's big day at school is tomorrow.   Ingrid has a performance, too.

Sunday is the Super Bowl.  Eric is coming over to watch.   I think he is for the patriots.   He will make snacks or a meal.   Either will be nice.  Eric and Laura have no tv.   That is one way they cut household expensives.  They have Internet and Netflix.   Without tv channels, they also have less to monitor.   The two older girls have iPhones.  Eric has them after a certain time in the evening.   So much to monitor and watch out for.  I am glad I am not raising children.  When Laura was at u of a, she had a cell phone so she could call us.   She had to carry around a suitcase to use it.   It was called a bag phone.   Larry had a cell phone with his work.   We had to go outside and walk up crow mountain to get a signal!  There was no texting.   We had dail up Internet to post a photo you hit upload and waited an hour.   Those were the good old days.

Lots of Stuff I can't believe I did!   One was sending Laura to the hob nob to get a gallon of milk when she was 15 and had no drivers license.  Another was leaving Erin at the city pool all day.  Dropped her off and picked her up.   Parents could never do this today.  Too many perverts out there.  I had such great children.   It was not that we were super parents, just one of the Lord's blessing.

One of the things I miss most about that time long ago is being able to sleep,all night.  I rarely,sleep all night and I notice lots of other older folks don't either.  Getting old is not for the weak at heart.
