Sigrid’s Next Step

Sigrid’s last day of high school is here.  Lots of days have sped by since kindergarten at Sequoyah Elementary.  She rode the school bus to my school at the end of the day.  First day, I went out and met her bus. Her shoes were untied and she was walking on the shoe strings.  I said, “Sig, your shoes are untied”.  She said, “l can tie them. They’re more comfortable like this!” Where did the time go?

 

Bubbles

What are bubbles filled with?  Fun!  Ada is almost finished with a year of pre-school.  This summer she’ll stay at home with Clayton and Greta.  Next month Clayton will be 15 and Greta is 12.  I hope they have a great summer.  Meme lives next door too.  

 

Ingrid’s New Place

Ingrid is settling into her new home.  I like her couch.  Her apt number is 1!  She said the door had double dead bolts!

Eric and Laura attended Celebration of Excellence last evening for Sig.  It lasts a couple of hours and Laura said I did not have to go so I did not.  Sigrid received several medals one was for taking 8 AP (advanced placement) classes.  Sigrid told the presenter she did not take 8.  He said “hush, Siggie, take the medal”. I think she did take that many though because her Educators Rising” class counted 12 hours of college credit if she passes the test.  She graduates the 20th and I’ll be in attendance.

I’m still cleaning Larry’s shop and discarding some things.  It’s difficult.

Ingrid has moved to Conway.  It’s about 45 miles from us.  She will drive to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock each day stating in July.  She is in her final year of her Nuclear Med degree. Astrid has finished her degree.  Ing is one year way and Sigrid will start to College in the fall.  Soon, Erin’s bunch will follow.  Clayton may not go to college but I’m praying he will.   

Best Company

Sister Helen’s old car went kaput.  Her son bought her this ride.  He is handy and went through it making sure it was in good shape.  The inside is beautiful.  He installed a big back up camera.  It’s standard shift so she won’t have transmission issues.  She drove down today to visit.  I had the best day.  She brought homemade angel food cake and strawberries.   So good. 

When she was in Arizona, she bought me this sombrero hat. It even covers my neck.  I am ecstatic!   This is the type workers wear in the sun and I am a farmer girl.

New Neighbors

 Yelp, it’s bees.  My friends put them here to see how they do.  I want my own but I must learn about taking care of the first.  This is a good way to see if I can be a bee keeper.  I plan just visiting from afar for a while.  

Flowers for Pop

 Pop has a fresh bouquet.  Laura took me to Alpena and fixed new flowers for her Dad!  She left him a little red tractor too!  He loved Farmalls♥️🚜

 

Smiles are Free

It’s so nice to be recognized!  This sweet girl gifted Laura a T-Shirt today.  It  says—Everyone Deserves a Voice!  Laura’s connection with her came monitoring the hallways!  Smiles and kindness are free gifts we can give each day.

Sun, Moon, Stars

The humble dandelion represents three bodies in the sky—the sun, the moon and the stars.  The full yellow bloom is the sun.  The puff ball resembles the moon and the floating seeds are the stars.  The dandelion opens in the morning like the sun and closes at night as the sun sets.  I find it interesting.  

May is here.  It’s called May as it may rain, the sun may shine, it may snow, it may be 90 degrees or 25!

I went for my well check today.  My iron level was good.  I’ve taken iron for 2 years and I get to take a break.  We’ll check it in 4 months.  I scheduled my breast squashing test and the dreadful colon snake.  I am not excited.  My blood pressure was 124/82.  I weigh a lot—164.  I think my problem is I eat all day with a few small breaks 🤩🤩

Flowers for Family

Sister Helen went to Alpena Cemetery today and renewed the spirit of family💛🤍💛She did not even ask for me to help out with the cost!  Who will share when she’s gone?  Probably, no one💛I love her!

Peonies

Received my first Mother’s Day gift yesterday by way of Dardanelle Elementary. They are beautiful and smell so good.  Terri has retired but brought these today for Laura to share with me.  Vincent Van Gogh loved flowers too.  The picture beside my vase is his bowl with peonies.  He also painted sunflowers, irises, roses, poppies, cornflowers, myositis, and chrysanthemums.  His sunflower painting is much loved. 

 

Good Feet

Our foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than 100 muscles, ligaments, and tendons — not to mention more sweat glands than any other part of the body.  If one’s foot has a problem, soon it moves to the knees and then the hips and on to the back and neck finally causing a big head ache.  My left foot wants to pronate making my bad knees hurt even more.  I am trying to consciously walk heel toe and keep my weight (there’s a lot of it) to the outside of my foot.  I also suffer from bunions, a hammer toe, and calluses. I guess my feet are just wore out.
