Spring

 We had spring for two days...it is cold again.

A Little Shade

Greta thinks a tree is nice because it has shade!  See that scribble beside the tree--well, that says Greta and signed her art!

Walked over 3 miles today.  It was hot. I made myself go.

Finally--Pretty Day

Fleta, I walked over 3 miles today.

 I have been seeing lots of little Yellow Finches.  They are really pretty.

 I have more woodpeckers than ever.  I often see three of these at my feeders all at one time.

 Sigrid came today for a little visit.  She had art stuff from school to sell.  It is one she designed.  This time she created a sea turtle.  On the back of the form was some scribbling.  She said "oh, that is where my Mother deducted money from my allowance for not cleaning my room and something else".  Pop gave her $10.00.  he said tell your Mom you found it by the pond walking over to your Poppa's!

Here is Astrid playing varsity soccer.  We get to see her tomorrow at 7:00.   I hope she gets in the game at least for a while so we can see her run and shoot.  I can see the goalie in the picture thinks that ball is coming hard and fast.

Hooray, Ingie Bean!

 Ingrid tried out for the dance team at JR HIGH yesterday.  I took her at 3:30.  She was number 5 to try out...a try out is just that it does not mean she will be chosen.

 About 8 that evening the posted the girls who made the squad.  Above she is congratulating and being congratulated by her friend, Avery and below posing with another of her friends, Claire!

I got nervous for her before the posting.  What if she did not make it?  Well, the world would go on as Patsy always said "As the world turns".  But she did succeed and I was so happy for her being so happy!  Ingrid was in dance class from age 4 until this year.  With all the sports, she could not squeeze it in!  I should not have worried as you can see below...she was prepared for the try out!

Song For Winnie

I usually don't like new gospel songs but I listened to this one and really enjoyed it.  Through His devine power he has given us everything we need.

Please, Winnie let us know when you are home and glowing once more as we will be "on edge" 'til we hear!

Marching On

 Sigrid and her friends Marlie and Macie are dissecting a perch in gifted class.  Marlie did great, Siggie said, until the poop came out.  Sigrid had to take over the cutting job.  Her favorite part was getting the eye out.

 Astrid has a soccer tournament at Harrison, Friday and Saturday.  She will go with the varsity HS team.  They will stay overnight in Harrison at a motel.  Laura has accommodations there on Harrison Hill and will go and watch the team.  Astrid is only a 9th grader and will not get to play a lot but hopefully she will "hit the turf" some.

 Greta's hair is growing out.  I think she is so cute with her hair like this.    The photos below are of the girls and their dad with his Grandmother Merle on he 90th birthday.  Merle's father was born in Norway.  I have met her once and she is a great lady.

Better Days Are Here Again!

 Ingrid is playing volleyball this weekend in Little rock.  She is number 7...you can get the front and back of it all here!  lol

 Astrid attended a team building camp for her soccer team yesterday and last night.  Her coach sent Laura this picture.

 Sigrid brought JuJu to visit.  She is still little but mighty!

 Hold me Gigi--is what JuJu said when she saw all the "big" dogs.

 Here is the wild hog drawing that Astrid drew with color pencils and put in a contest with the State of AR.   Helen said it was not bad luck to show it.  

Bass, Arkansas

Bass is located on Arkansas Highway 74 13 miles (21 km) southeast of Jasper.  Aunt Nancy Standridge (Granny Renfroe's sister-in-law) once said "I was born at Bass, AR".  When asked where Bass was she said "where a billy goat can't go".    Below is Aunt Nancy George Standridge with Lum Drewry at Bass.  She married Joe Standridge.  Aunt Nancy is Syble's mother.  This was probably about 1921 or 22.  She married Joe in 1925.  I love her outfit!

Clayton's snowman is called Adam.  He covered his modesty with leaves!

Now and Then

 Here is a picture of Ingie and two of her friends.  Ingrid has bunches of friends.  She calls most of them her "best" friends.  Ingrid is a beautiful girl and smart too.  All the pictures below are from 2010.

 Sigrid above is not being treated fairly.  I am sure if she had known that phrase then about the pants and the bad girl she would have used it here to her sisters.

 I love these hats.  Someone smart surely made them.

 Looks like they had fun on another snowy day.

 This is from a run in Little Rock.  Astrid and Ingrid ran the first 20 something miles at her school and the last one at the Little Rock Marathon.  Sigrid later did the same thing.

Round Four, Five or Whatever

 I am not sure the number of this storm, but it is really sleeting again.  The above photo is of the last sleet storm but this one  looks similar.  Below is a picture I took of the Yellow Finch, April 2014, but one Yellow Finch was at the sunflower feeder today so spring is not far away.  Before long our neighbors from the south will be here--the Martins.  Harrison had no school today.  Dover did not go and Russellville and Dardanelle let out at 1:10.  We picked up Astrid.  Everyone got home before the sleet started so that is good.

I 

Erin sent this photo she took "screened".  Who would want to venture out to take a picture!  Erin, you have lots more than we do.  Neighbors horses got out and stampeded through our yard.  Gave the dogs and us old folks some excitement.  Some poor soul flipped their car just opposite our driveway about 5:00.   Larry had be call Laura to make sure they were all home.  It is not snowing now (6:30) but I guess this is  just a little rest and it will start again soon.

Noticed next week we will have some 60 degree weather--can't wait!
