Dallas Emmett's Place

Patsy was born on Farewell Road on the Dallas' Emmett Place.  She said Richard and Barb lived there once.  Daddy was a sharecropper. Emmett bought the seed and Daddy put in a crop.  Momma had only just turned 17 a few months before.  Patsy said the house was little more than a shack.  Momma did not go to her mother's when her time grew near.  I do not know if any woman even attended her.  Daddy and the Gaddy's were estranged most of their lives.  He did not like Grandpa and the feeling was mutual. Patsy said a Dr. came and attended her birth.  I think I recall Daddy saying he picked the name Patsy as he liked it.
Dallas Emmett married Stella Walker.  They are buried at Picken's Cemetery.

Richard was born at Carrollton, but not on the old Powell place.  Daddy was sharecropping there again when Richard was born.  Daddy bought the Powell place on contract with Aunt Tee.  But that was not until after Richard's birth.
Erin shared the photo and I do like it.  Lots of hunters out there wearing trophies.
