Blu

Phinnie’s little girl Blu is spoiled rotten.

Bike Time

I have been working on two afghans.  One is for a new baby coming in July.  The other is for his big sister.  Thought she might feel left out.

Ada is going to enjoy being outside as the weather warms.

New pallet

Erin put down a rug when it was messy out for the family to deposit shoes on.  Ada thought it was a new pallet for her.

Beware of the Golden Calf

 From sermon of Rev.Paul O’Neill

When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered around Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make gods for us, who shall go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” 2Aaron said to them, “Take off the gold rings that are on the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” 3So all the people took off the gold rings from their ears, and brought them to Aaron. 4He took the gold from them, formed it in a mold, and cast an image of a calf; and they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” 5When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a festival to the Lord.” 6They rose early the next day, and offered burnt offerings and brought sacrifices of well-being; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to revel.

7The Lord said to Moses, “Go down at once! Your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have acted perversely; 8they have been quick to turn aside from the way that I commanded them; they have cast for themselves an image of a calf, and have worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!’” 9The Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, how stiff-necked they are. 10Now let me alone, so that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them; and of you I will make a great nation.”

11But Moses implored the Lord his God, and said, “O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? 12Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce wrath; change your mind and do not bring disaster on your people. 13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, how you swore to them by your own self, saying to them, ‘I will multiply your descendants like the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’” 14And the Lord changed his mind about the disaster that he planned to bring on his people.

15Then Moses turned and went down from the mountain, carrying the two tablets of the covenant in his hands, tablets that were written on both sides, written on the front and on the back. 16The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved upon the tablets. 17When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a noise of war in the camp.” 18But he said, “It is not the sound made by victors, or the sound made by losers; it is the sound of revelers that I hear.”

19As soon as he came near the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, Moses’ anger burned

hot, and he threw the tablets from his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.

Friday

Astrid got two of these chickens.  I think they are silkies.  They were really tiny when she first brought them home but they are getting big.  Her two red hens are laying so she is getting an egg each day.  Patsy would be happy that Astrid is a chicken farmer,  ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£

250 Dollar Mouse

When the cold hit, a mouse crept into the outside part of my heating unit.  He died by shorting out a part.  Then for the next almost 2 weeks, the temperature was freezing, and my heat ran continually.   The man who works on my system, told me to check the breakers. Well, outside unit breaker was thrown because a electrocuted mouse was lying across a part in the unit.  When I tripped the breaker, the unit started to work correctly.  But I guess the part the mouse was lying on was slowing burning.  That night the main breaker, to my house tripped. I called Laura to see if she had electricity.  She did.  I thought there  might be an outage.  Laura said, “Daddy said first Check the main breaker.”  I threw it and had electricity again.  The heat unit wouldn’t even come on.  Workman Paul fixed it.  When I turned the unit back on, it shorted out something on the house part of the unit.

Long story made short.  This little mouse cost me  $250.00!  I’m glad I did not trip the breaker until after the horrible cold passed.

Ice Castles—Falling Water Creek

My Granddaughter, Astrid, was going “stir crazy” from being indoors for over a week.  Yesterday, the sun was calling “come enjoy nature.”  She and her friend Logan hiked a short trail.  Here are some of the spectacular frozen sights she shared with me.

Walking again

Laura and I tried to walk yesterday.  It was slippery and still there was lots of ice.  We walked about 45 minutes.  Today, we went prepared!  We wore our boots and I carried my hiking stick.  We made our usual distance.  Boots made it harder for me.  Guess they weigh more than tennis shoes.  I left Phinnie at home.  It was just too messy to take him.  We spelled what we were doing to do because he knows key word— go, walk, ride.  ðŸ˜‚😂

Back Home Again

Home again, home again, jiggety jog.

Sisters’s feet are back in the home country after being in arid Arizona for 6 months.  Yearning  to go visit soon.

Play Time

Phinnie is really tired of being inside.  His friend Frodo came to play today.  Chase is their favorite game.

Beautiful Day

The sun burst forth for us to enjoy today.  Normally, we’d say it was extremely cold, but today it felt really warm after all those freezing days.  As the sun set the sky was beautiful.

I don’t have a son, but I have Lil’ Red. Thankful for her. She shoveled my front and back steps and walk!

Goal Achieved

Sister Helen went to AZ 6 months ago to teach her grandson Benjamin to drive.  He got his license today. Sister can head home feeling good about what she did.  He’ll always remember.

Falling Water

Falling Water has turned to icicles, but is still beautiful.  As this snow melts it will roll and be spectacular.

Arkansas is Doing OK

This is State Line Avenue in Texarkana.  The clean Highway is Arkansas side.  The other is Texas.  They need to elect some new politicians.

Pharmacy Tech

Astrid is doing a great job at C and D Drug.  Client brought cookies to the staff.

Donkey Kong

I see Astrid daily in Galla Meadow tending to Johnny and June.  This morning it is 16 degrees. Compared to yesterday morning it is nice.  It snowed last night and more is coming.  Sister Helen is coming home from AZ Sunday.  By weekend our temperatures will be above freezing.  I’m hopeful.

Black and White

Astrid took these yesterday of Galla Pond and my trail to Galla Lake.  She saved them in black and white.  Looks totally cold.

Astrid saw these and said, “Gigi, those are in color!”  Gosh, everything is back and white.

P

Zero

The temperature outside is 0. A big fat goose egg.  But I am hoping for sunny skies soon.  I’m dreaming of sitting in the sun.  This time last year it was so much worse for me.  Larry was so sick and only two weeks from finally taking his leave.  Laura took me on a hike President’s Day and I left him alone.  I thought of him all day.  I don’t wish Larry had not passed, but going on alone is difficult.

Snow Bound

Feeling blessed. All electric house and I still have power.  Ingie worked over night shift at Dardanelle Hospital and Eric was able to safely navigate snow covered roads and Dardanelle bridge to bring her home.

Little Ada is sick. She saw the Doctor virtually and she and Erin went out on snow covered streets to get her medicine.  Back home safely.  Greg opened Harrison Armory.  He is probably busy selling bullets as the grocery stores are empty.  Real men will visit the gun store.  ðŸ˜‚😂

I fed the birds, my chickens, my two dogs.  Put out water for them but I will repeat about 2 P. M.  I have swept the snow from my porches more than once.  It has warmed up to 13 degrees.  I think it’s finally quit snowing.

Once when I was a young girl, we were snowed in so long Dad finally went to town for a few groceries and cow feed on the tractor.

I never had to worry about what to do about anything with my sweet husband.  He had big shoulders and seemed to know what we should do.  I do fine until there is a little crisis then I sort of fold.

Chick Chick

I love chickens.

Wedding Coming Up

Astrid is going to be in her friend’s wedding.  Yesterday,  Asti went with her and her sister to pick her wedding dress.  The big day is in October, I think.  Astrid and Mary—M. K.— have been friends since the 6th grade.

My Little Valentine

I sent Ada “ light up shoes” for Valentine’s Day.  She can make them flash if she stomps.

Hall Walk

I made a decision to not fret about not walking each day until this dreadful weather passes.  Son in law Eric took Laura and I to his school and we walked the hallways while he graded papers.  Walked almost an hour.   Always a way if we look in the right places.
