Big Chimney!

This big chimney is the cooling tank for the nuclear
plant near my house. The big electric lines are carrying
power from the plant. My house is all electric, but my
big wish is to have a gas cooking stove. I think they
cook better and I have a fear of no power and freezing
to death in the winter! This tower cools the water the
plant uses to make electricity. Lots of folks in my
River Valley work at this plant!

Every time I drive by this 'big chimney' I wonder what it would be like to live in its shadow. Is your house as close as the photo suggests? If so, you could answer my question.

Years ago there were all kinds of rumors of problems with crops and livestock and, of course, lots of fear for the welfare of the people who lived near the plant. Having heard none of these fears in years, I wonder.

I'm with Annie. Do you glow in the dark?

I think the rumors were true and it was the farms with the big lines passing over them. the cows on these farms had the problems.

We were going down the interstate. but I live about 4 miles from the cooling tank.

Thanks, Sister, for your answer. I have always wondered what someone who lives nearby would say about those rumors.
