Bag to Go

Sigrid sent me this today.  She’s carrying her crocheted bag to work.

I have another test tomorrow—colonoscopy!  Double yuck.  Today I’m drinking white grape juice and about 4, I’ll start drinking that cleanse stuff.  The Dr. Said this is probably the last one I’ll have to endure unless I have some type of problem.

Wait For the Best Deal

Here is a point to ponder.  I think it’s a good perspective.  My cousin Frankie says when you dust you just move dirt around.

I gave Laura a little cash for Mother’s Day to buy a new flower.  She had the end of school business then a trip to Norway.  By the time she got around to spending her cash, she got some great deals.  A car load of flowers instead of one pot.

Flag Day

Javier Zamora was born in El Salvador in 1990 during the country’s civil war. His father fled to the United States first, a year after Zamora was born, and his mother followed when he was 5. For the next four years, he lived with his grandparents.  He dreamed of going to America and being with his parents.  Finally at age 9, his grandfather hired a coyote.  It was his turn to go.  The book is about his journey.   He is deserted by the first man that was hired to take him.  It is an amazing story.  Many say he had no right to come.  He was caught once and placed in a cage jail.  I say,”by the grace of God, there goes I”.  The book was an eye opener for me.

Javier built a successful life here.  He is a college graduate.  I recommend the book.

Number 10

I finished the crocheted beach bag.  It’s a little lop sided.
This is the baby blanket I chose to make for Bob’s (exercise friend of Laura’s) grand baby. The new parents are not finding out gender until the birth.  I’m using a very light gray.  The pattern is called picket fence.  It’s very simple.
Laura and I went to walk a little before 8.  We had a nice rain at daylight.  When we returned from walking squirrel number 10 was trapped.  Will I ever get them all?  I’m hopeful as I put all my feeders back out.

I go today at 4:00 for what I call the breast squashing exam.  Ugh😝

Number 9

Trapped number 9 today.  Surely not many more. There were 2 out there this morning.  So there is one more.  Got my trap set for him.

Mowed Pastures

Mowing the pastures creates a beautiful scene.  Logan mowed where June and Rosie live yesterday.  I walked over just to see how pretty it looked as the sun went down.  Looked like this cloud was on fire.
Rosie comes to the fence to let me pet her.  The horse flies were biting June.  She was miserable.  The make a bloody place as their bite is deep.
I have trapped and hauled 8 squirrels to the oak covered grave yard, but there is at least one more.  I have my trap set for him today.  I’m wondering if Sigrid stayed in her little apartment last night.

Independence

Sigrid stayed overnight in her little apartment.  No TV.  No food.  No coffee, but she felt independent I’m sure.

Baptism

This is one of Laura’s students.  She wanted to accept Jesus as her savior and wanted Laura to be there when she professed her faith.  Laura was in Norway for that special occasion.  But today she was present when her little friend was baptized.

When you take the time to be someone special to a child, the rewards are great.

Porch Rails

Astrid has a few little chicks.  She got them on “mark down” at Tractor Supply.  Logan is the protector of the hen house!

Logan finally got a day off and he and Astrid finished the porch railing.  Now we can get home owners insurance on the Galla Creek house.  Astrid chose this.  That’s iron in between the posts.  The rebar looks good with the house.

Astrid put the chicks on mark down with a broody hen.  Love this little gray chick.  She said it might be a grey Orpington.

First for Laura

Laura only learned to crochet this year.  She’s made several smaller items.  This is her first throw.  She lacks the edging and blocking it, but it’s really pretty.  I think she is enjoying her projects.  Amy the librarian at her school was her teacher.  Amy is a good teacher.
This sprig of ButterflyWeed is all I’ve seen this year in Galla Meadow.  I’m not surprised the butterflies like it.  It’s really beautiful.
We received a little rain today.  Not a soaker like has been falling at the home place but a nice shower.

Erin shared these with me today.  I wish I could see Ada everyday.  She’s a little jewel.

A Little Problem in Bird Feeding Paradise

Well, my motto I said was "NEVER GIVE UP".  Low and behold its the squirrels motto also.  I was ahead 6 to 0 and by next morning another showed up.  I trapped him and hauled him to the oak shaded graveyard.  I think I smirked.  By evening another was out there.  I had restored all my feeders.  Not so fast!  I took the easy peasy ones down and by late evening the score was 8 to zip.  Well, this morning I headed to Walmart to get some potting soil, when I got back a fat squirrel was on my big feeder and he was getting fatter.  Now, the score is 8 to 1.  I reset the trap.  He was so full he went off to the Walnut tree for a quick nap.

This slinky worked for a while.  Then it broke.  It came from the Dollar Tree.  Maybe I need a metal one.  Also, I saw one squirrel climb on Brother's gut tub which is now filled with flowers.  He made a flying leap from that tub and landed on my flat feeder.

I am not defeated.  I am determined!  I am a bird watcher not a squirrel feeder!

Outstanding Goblin Camper

This is the last time Greta can attend this younger camp.  Proud she was outstanding camper.
You can see she did not want to pose with her awards but she did finally.  She won the free throw contest hitting 9 out of 10.  She won the 2 on 2 award and the hot shot.  Today she’s playing in Fayetteville.  I think she’s playing on a 6 th grade team and a Jr. High team.  She’ll be happy if she gets to play a lot of time.
